Kaelia having the Queen Gene made the size difference between the twins all the more visible, and now he has to suffer her jests. Plus, as the dragon queen, she can remind him that he is meant to be under her rule. As a joke, of course.

But her brother is not amused. And probably a bit jealous. (I wonder if that is what lead him on the path of "I want to become BIGGER!")

To think the evolution Kaelia as a character had... From Kael's alternate universe counterpart, then simply his female form, until I decided to just make them two different entities due to their different personalities. Now twins, who look different due to her queen gene giving her a particularly unique look for her species while Kael is the more basic look. Hence why they are no longer alike.

For the lore in short: Their species is a bit like an ant hive, with a giant version of a dragon that stands as the dragonqueen and main broodmother of the species. The traditions were already quite outdated as most dragons of the species had left the homeland to live in peace and solitude. Kael, being progressive and despising this fate for his sister, convinced her to flee the homeland with him. It lead to his species on the slow and quiet path towards extinction, but he never regretted this decision.

At first she was quite well, but over time, the genes started acting, and without having the needed help as a dragonqueen, Kael had to bring her to a place that could heal her; the Mother Tree.

Most problems were fixed, but now she is a colossus... And as a ruler without a people, Kael ends up being the target of her more dominant side and it's crushing for him.

And yes, since they are twins, Kael has the queen gene too, but he is a male so it is deactivated for him.
