Continued from Part 1 (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47853630/ )
As Freya continued to watch as Soliana left, she felt a deep pain in her heart as she thought about her sister’s parting words, almost as they mirrored the same promise that her mother made before leaving to fight in the war. Still worried, but trying her best to have faith everything would work out, Freya dragged herself home where she promptly went to bed. Unable to sleep, Freya stared at the ceiling, trying her best to get some semblance of peace; only for her fears and anxiety to eventually lull her to sleep. Unfortunately, as Freya slumbered, her mind began crafting vivid nightmares about her mother and Soliana; painting grisly images of their deaths which only served to frighten Freya more and more. Wanting to rid herself of such horrific images, Freya tried to force herself awake, only for the sudden boom of thunder to jolt her up. Looking outside, Freya realized it was storming outside, the smell of ash and fresh rain combining into an odd aroma. Lying back down, Freya couldn’t help but think about her mother and Soliana, only for the sound of rain to somewhat calm her and put her back to sleep. Waking up the next day, Freya dragged herself out of bed as she remembered what had happened the previous night. Getting dressed, Freya went to the Valkrus guild, the wet dreary atmosphere doing nothing to erode her worries. As she walked about, Freya noticed how construction and repairs were already underway as she witnessed the various scorch marks left behind by the Incindrus. Upon making it to the guild, Freya went to her godfather’s office, only to see him with a worried look on his face. As Freya stepped into the guild master’s office, the man warmly greeted Freya before asking if she had seen Soliana. Nervous and wanting to keep her promise, Freya stated she had not seen Soliana, despite the fear and obvious concern in her godfather’s voice. The guild master told Freya that various people were injured in the Incindrus attack, but no one was killed; going on to state that Soliana would usually be one of the first to greet him in the morning. Deeply concerned and very confused, the guild master wondered where Soliana was. As the guild master began to pace around his office and think to himself, Freya silently watched as her godfather grew more and more discouraged and fearful. The look of desperation and concern on her godfather’s face worried Freya and she soon began to rethink her promise to Soliana, fearing the worst had happened to her adoptive sister. However, as Freya began to open her mouth to tell the guild master about what happened; one of the guild members frantically called out to the guild master. Alarmed, the guild master and Freya ran to see what was wrong, only for the guild member to urge the duo to come outside the guild. Unsure of what was happening, both Freya and her godfather came down from the office, swiftly making their way outside where they came across various other villagers and guild members chattering. As Freya and the guild master got outside, the latter asked what the commotion was about; only for him and his goddaughter to look over in the direction everyone was facing and see the subject of everyone’s curiosity. Trudging towards the village was a battered and slightly singed Soliana, wet from the rain and covered in ash and blood splatter. Her shield was in splinters and her sword shattered with only the hilt remaining; however, what she dragged along with her was the most shocking sight. In Soliana’s free hand, was a large golden curved horn with a bloody tip. Concerned, the guild master and Freya ran to Soliana’s side, with the former catching the fox as she stumbled from exhaustion. Alarmed, the guild master asked what happened to Soliana and where she had been, only for the fox to chuckle weakly. Dropping the horn, Soliana stated that the Incindrus was no more. Hearing such words, the guild master looked at the dropped horn and back at Soliana in stunned disbelief. As the guild master questioned how this could be, Soliana stated she killed the beast with its own horn, stating the creature’s corpse was in a scorched portion of a nearby forest. Hearing these words, the guild master’s expression went from utter shock to sheer jubilation as he proudly announced the death of the Incindrus; his words ringing throughout the village. What followed was a brief moment of silence that quickly erupted into thunderous cheers of everyone in the village; with villagers and guild members alike rallying at the death of the vile beast. Freya, happy that her sister made it back and the beast was dead, hugged Soliana, only for the weakened fox to chuckle again but tell her to refrain due to her aching body. Picking up his wounded goddaughter, the guild master ordered several guild members to search the forest for the Incindrus’ corpse and report back; while simultaneously ordering several other members to fetch any medics they could. Carrying Soliana back to the guild, the guild master, Freya, and many others followed behind with the specified guild members carrying out their orders.
After reaching the guild, the guild master tended to Soliana, treating her wounds and feeding her, all the while watching her condition steadily improve. Miraculously, Soliana received no lasting injuries and the burns she suffered were minimal. Happy his goddaughter was safe, the guild master expressed his pride in Soliana, having done something others had never thought at all possible. Stating he would normally be furious with Soliana for even attempting such a stunt, the guild master asked why Soliana felt she needed to do such a task; especially one where death was a high possibility. Rubbing on of her wounds, Soliana stated how she wanted to defend the village so no one else who lose their family and loved ones like she did; stating her actions were not for fame, but rather the well being of people like her godfather, Freya, fellow guild members, and the people of the village. Hearing his goddaughter’s explanation, the guild master firmly embraced Soliana, with Freya joining in, proud of her sister. The guild master once again expressed his pride in Soliana, stating how much he loved her. Shedding several tears, Soliana hugged her godfather and sister as much as her still aching body would permit, apologizing for worrying them both and how much she loved them as well. It was then that the guild members sent to investigate the Incindrus, returned informing the guild master of the beast’s unmistakable corpse; confirming Soliana’s tale of the creature’s death. As there were no lingering doubts now, the guild master expressed his own happiness with the news and how Soliana would be given the rank of an elite hunter due to her heroism and courage. Thanking her godfather, Soliana stated how she would not let the village or guild down. Proud of his goddaughter, the guild master stated how he knew she would do great things. Freya, proud of her sister, expressed her own excitement and pride, eager and curious to see the things she would soon do in the future.
Over the following year, Freya spent most of her time with Soliana and would usually watch her adoptive sister during her training and practice sessions; truly proud of her for what she had done and what she continued to do. Seeing Soliana’s courage and the strength, filled Freya with a deep sense of admiration and faith as it mirrored the same aura her mother did. For this reason, Freya’s worries about her mother’s safety melted into unbridled eagerness to see her mother return, as she was certain she would come back to the village no matter what. After the 2-year period had concluded, Freya knew her mother would be arriving soon, and was longing to see her again! One day as Freya was speaking to her godfather, she heard an unmistakable voice coming from the guild along with the chatter and cheers of some of the other guild members. Emerging from the office, Freya immediately spied her mother who had finally returned from her request. Erupting into a fit of jubilation, Freya called out to her mother and rushed to embrace her. Overjoyed to see her daughter again, Sigrid dropped her belongings so she could hug her child, stating how much she missed her. The guild master soon emerged from his office and warmly greeted Sigrid, happy to see his prized huntress again, stating how he knew she would be returning safely. Hugging the guild master, Sigrid expressed her own happiness at seeing the old man again. Happy to be back home, Sigrid asked the guild master what happened during her absence; only for the old man to invite the wolf to his office to discuss everything. Heading back to the office, Freya and her mother accompanied the guild master, ready to talk about what had happened during the years apart. After reconnecting, Sigrid told both Freya and the guild master about the request and how she helped bring peace to the distant kingdom. However, Sigrid told the guild master how the experience brought on thoughts and feelings about her daughter and how she truly wished to spend more time with her; ultimately bringing her to the conclusion of retiring from the guild. Shocked by this, Freya asked her mother why she wanted to retire as so many people of the village looked up to her. Hugging her daughter tightly, Sigrid told Freya how she felt as if she wasn’t truly fulfilling her role as a mother to her and how she wanted to correct that. Patting Freya on the head, Sigrid asked the guild master what his thoughts were on the matter. Though taken aback by the news, the guild master thought for a moment and smiled at Sigrid; stating that he understood Sigrid’s point of view, and even though it would mean losing the guild’s most prized hunter, family ultimately comes first. Smiling back at the guild master, Sigrid told the old man that she wouldn’t be simply leaving the guild as she wished to pass on her knowledge so that a worthy successor would take her place. Unfortunately, Sigrid admitted that she had few choices on who to choose as many of the other guild members didn’t have the qualities she was looking for. Breathing a deep sigh, Sigrid told the guild master that she would continue her search if it meant leaving both the guild and village in the right hands. Breaking from her frustration, Sigrid asked the guild master what happened during her absence and how Freya behaved while she was gone. Chuckling, the guild master told Sigrid her daughter was very well behaved and did what she was told, having no issues whatsoever. It was then that the guild master told Sigrid of the chaos that happened months prior to her departure, informing the mother of the Incindrus attack that transpired and the havoc it decided to unleash upon the village. Hearing this, Sigrid quickly grew alarmed, asking what happened to the beast and if everyone was ok; knowing full well the tales of violence that were spun about the creature. Calming Sigrid, the guild master informed the wolf that everything was fine and the beast had long since been taken care of due to one particular brave hunter. Deeply surprised, Sigrid asked how this could be, stating the warrior responsible must be an experienced veteran to have accomplished such a task. Laughing jovially, the guild master told Sigrid, that this was NOT the work of a veteran, but rather a rookie hunter. Completely dumbfounded, Sigrid asked how a rookie was able to fell such a vicious beast and who they were. The guild master told Sigrid that even he couldn’t explain how it was possible, but explained that the rookie hunter was Soliana, his other goddaughter. Though still baffled by this, Sigrid began thinking, only to quickly ask where the fox was. The guild master told Sigrid that Soliana was more than likely practicing at the training ground if she so desired to speak with her. Thanking the guild master, Sigrid excused herself out of the office, with Freya following close behind.
Making their way out of the guild and over to the training grounds, Freya and her mother were able to quickly spot Soliana sitting on a nearby bench, resting after her session. Although Sigrid’s presence attracted the attention of many of the aspiring guild members, she was not one to be rude to the young members. Greeting the younger members warmly, Sigrid asked those around her to give her a bit of alone time as she wished to speak with Soliana privately. Honoring Sigrid’s wish, the young members left her alone so she could speak privately, most of them chattering about how they wanted to be similar to the respected huntress. Taking a seat next to Soliana, Sigrid greeted the fox warmly, before saying she heard what she did and how she bested the Incindrus, expressing how impressed she was at such a feat. Thanking Sigrid for her words, Soliana joked that it was no easy task. Chuckling, Sigrid joked how she could imagine how such a task would prove difficult. Stating how most people would usually fight for fame or status, Sigrid asked why Soliana felt the need to take on a task that most others would consider suicide, with no guarantee that her efforts would end in success. Solemnly, Soliana stated how the Incindrus killed her parents and how she didn’t want to lose anyone else; from her friends with the guild, her godfather, and Freya, she wished to protect them all. Smiling, Soliana stated how she had to at least try, due to knowing how terrified most people were of the creature and how she refused to let the beast kill as it pleased. Upon hearing Soliana’s explanation, Sigrid gave the fox a confident yet comforting smile, saying that her reasoning was not just the making of a great guild member, but a great warrior as well. Placing a hand on Soliana’s shoulder, Sigrid told the fox that she knew Soliana would be destined for great things; going on to say how she wished to nurture some of the potential she had. Confused, Soliana asked what Sigrid meant by this. Chuckling softly, Sigrid told Soliana that she would be retiring from the guild to best care for Freya, and wished to leave behind a worthy successor in her place. Looking Soliana in her eyes, Sigrid asked if the fox would allow her to train her so she could be the best she could and better defend the village. Eyes filled with excitement, Soliana readily agreed, promising she would not let Sigrid down. Patting Soliana on the shoulder, Sigrid smiled and stated she knew she would do great. Hearing the news, Freya hugged Soliana saying how excited she was for her big sister, eager to see what feats she would be capable of. Smiling at Sigrid, Soliana thanked the veteran guild member for choosing her as her successor. Giving Soliana a firm hug, Sigrid told the fox that no thanks was necessary; as she wanted to thank Soliana for protecting her daughter and the villager while she was gone. As Soliana and Sigrid continued to talk and discuss various details, Freya couldn’t help but feel an undeniable sense of pride in both her mother and her sister.
Over the months that followed, Sigrid and Soliana would train together, with the former taking the fox on various requests in order to give her student more experience with various scenarios. During this time, Freya would continue about her own life, eagerly waiting for her mother and sister to return so she could hear about their recent exploits. After a while, Soliana’s training was complete and Sigrid expressed her pride in her successor, stating how she knew she wouldn’t let the village fall. Shortly after she finished training Soliana, Sigrid discussed her retirement with the guild master, who graciously spread the news to everyone in the village and guild. Understandably, many guild members and villagers alike were saddened to hear that their highly regarded huntress was leaving them; but as many respected her choice, the citizens and guild members decided to send Sigrid off with a large ceremony to honor her. After a full couple of weeks of careful planning and preparation, the day of Sigrid’s retirement came and with it, a joyous day of celebration and festivities. For the entire day, the village was filled with laughter, drink, food, and dance; with Sigrid sharing stories with those around her and reminiscing with both the guild master and fellow members. While excited and partaking in the various festivities, Freya watched as many people honored her mother and began to feel somewhat sad that she wouldn’t see the various friends and family she had grown so attached to over the years. However, as she knew that the ceremony was about celebration and not sadness, Freya kept quiet about everything.
Later that night, the final portion of the ceremony was held with Sigrid announcing her happiness at having fought alongside various other members and how she would remember the time she shared with everyone. Smiling at the various people watching her, Sigrid then announced that even though she would be leaving the guild, she would not be leaving the village without a worthy replacement. Proudly announcing how she had worked with the individual for a while and proclaiming how she had much potential, Sigrid called upon Soliana who was watching from the audience. Smiling, Soliana scrambled to Sigrid’s side, blushing due to the attention she was receiving. Placing her hand on Soliana’s shoulder, Sigrid announced how Soliana displayed many qualities she was looking for, and how her dedication to protect the village only served as a testament to her receiving her role of successor; going on to state how killing the Incindrus was truly showed this as well as her reasoning for doing so. Sigrid expressed her pride and confidence in Soliana and how she would make not only the guild proud, but the village as well. As everyone cheered and congratulated Soliana, Freya couldn’t help but feel slightly envious of her sister and felt an almost empty feeling in her heart. Nevertheless, Freya still cheered for Soliana, knowing that she would protect the village without question. After a long day of festivities, the ceremony concluded with the guild master displaying Sigrid’s first sword in the guild hall, stating it was a reminder of Sigrid’s legacy and a reminder of the guild’s finest hunter. After the ceremony had concluded, all in attendance began to clean up and further talk to Sigrid about her future plans; while Freya retired to her home early, drained from all of the events. That night, as Freya lied in her bed, she felt a gentle hand on her head, as Sigrid spoke to her. Saying how the day was eventful, Sigrid expressed her happiness in getting to spend more time with her daughter, stating how she knew there was little to worry about now that Soliana would be watching over the village. Giving her daughter a kiss on the forehead, Sigrid told Freya they would be leaving the next morning and going to live in the snowy mountains where she had a home built during one of her travels. Nodding, Freya slowly dozed off, ready for the next chapter of her life.
The next morning, Sigrid and Freya woke early, gathering their belongings and preparing to make their move to their new home. However, as they prepared to leave, the guild master along with the entire guild and town approached the duo to give them their final farewell. The guild master stated how good it was to have Sigrid in the guild and stated she and Freya were always welcome back at any time. As everyone said their final goodbyes, both Sigrid and Freya shed tears, but their smiles remained. Saying goodbye to everyone once more, both Sigrid and Freya left the village to begin their new lives.
Several weeks after leaving the Hildr village, Sigrid and Freya settled into their new home in the snowy mountains where they would live their lives in relative comfort. Over the next 2 years, Sigrid would nurture and care for Freya, and teach her the various things she knew. Freya truly bonded with her mother and felt a deeper connection that she wasn’t able to due to Sigrid’s work. However, over time, the peaceful mundanity of her new life began to somewhat gnaw away at Freya as she thought about the stories the guild master and her mother told her. From the excitement they experienced, the locations they visited, and the good they were able to do while they were in the guild; Freya soon began to crave what her mother did. In addition, Freya quickly began thinking about what Soliana was able to do for the village and how she too, was getting ready to do so much more. Though these feelings filled Freya with wonder and intrigue, they soon began to fill her with the feeling of emptiness and longing. It wasn’t long before the stories Sigrid told Freya began to saddened her more than bring her happiness. Seeing her daughter so downtrodden, Sigrid asked Freya what was wrong as it pained her to see her so distraught. Admitting to her mother how she loved the quality time she was able to spend with her since her retirement, Freya expressed her emptiness and sadness at not experiencing the same things as her mother, surrogate sister, and godfather; going on to say how she wanted to do great things and be a hero similar to everyone else. Hugging her daughter tightly, Sigrid explained how she retired so she could be a better mother to Freya and that it was the main reason she did what she did. Smiling at Freya, Sigrid further explained that she just wanted the best for her daughter; but went on to explain how she did not want to deprive her of things she wanted to do. Looking Freya in her daughter’s eyes, Sigrid asked her daughter if it would truly make her happy to do what she did. Nodding affirmatively, Freya expressed her desire to travel the world and do great things like her. A sincere smile passing her face, Sigrid told Freya that she would happily prepare her so she could join the guild and be a great warrior like her. Hearing these words, Freya’s eyes lit up brighter than the fire that burned in their home’s fireplace; taking to her Sigrid’s arms with unparalleled glee and thanking her mother for not only giving her mother such an opportunity but understanding.
Over the course of 2 years, Sigrid trained Freya in the art of combat, survival, and conditioned her to withstand colder regions so she was never without options in regards to wear to go. During this time, Freya felt a stronger bond with her mother and did her best to grasp and retain what was being taught to her; with Sigrid expressing her pride and confidence in her daughter’s abilities. Upon finishing her training, Freya felt excited that she would be able to see the rest of the world and make her mother proud with the good she could do. Seeing her once little girl getting ready to leave her, Sigrid embraced Freya with tears streaming down her face; expressing how proud she was of her daughter and how far she had come. Confident in Freya’s ability, Sigrid told her daughter she was ready to join the Valkrus guild, but revealed she had a few surprises for her. Quickly retreating to her room, Sigrid returned with several objects in hand all wrapped in cloth, explaining how she had been saving them until Freya was ready. Handing Freya the objects, Sigrid told her daughter how what she was handing her was both a graduation present and the perfect start to her life as a guild member. Graciously taking the objects from her mother, Freya unwrapped them and was excited to see the likes of a simple yet sturdily made spear, a brand-new carving knife, and an expertly crafted sword. Staring in disbelief at the tools in her hand, Freya soon began to get overwhelmed by her emotions. Setting the weapons aside, Freya hugged her mother, thanking her for both the gifts and for training her. Chuckling, Sigrid told Freya that while she got the sword and knife for her, the spear was specially made by a friend of the family Miris; who Freya recalled meeting several years back. Patting Freya on the head, Sigrid told her to thank Miris the next time she saw her, to which the excited pup responded yes to. Seeing Freya smile, Sigrid told her daughter she was free to leave in the morning as she wanted to spend one final night with her. Smiling Freya thanked her mom again and expressed her excitement. That night, Sigrid prepared Freya’s favorite meal and helped her pack belongings that would be vital for her trip; all the while telling her what to be cautious of. After a night of preparation, excitement, and reminiscing, Freya lied down in her bed and felt a small wave of anxiety wash over her as she wondered what she would be in store for, only for her enthusiasm to brush it aside. Closing her eyes, Freya settled in with a smile on her face.
The next morning, Freya woke up to her mother preparing a filling breakfast for her. Greeting her mother warmly, Freya hugged Sigrid and sat down to a lovingly made breakfast where she discussed various topics with her mother. After finishing, Freya fetched her pack with her belongings and her new weapons; but before she could leave, Sigrid stopped her. Wanting to give her daughter one more thing, Sigrid quickly fetched an admittedly heavy pouch that she handed to Freya, stating the money was needed to register with the guild and for emergencies. Taking the money from her mother and hugging her one last time, Freya left, stating how she would make her and have her own stories to share. Smiling at her daughter, Sigrid expressed her faith in Freya and hoped to hear everything she had done. Waving goodbye to her mother, Freya left her home to join the Valkrus guild, using directions given to her prior.
Although it took her some time, Freya managed to make her way back to the Hildr valley village where she felt fond memories flooding back to her after being gone for so long. As she looked around, Freya felt a strange feeling of anxiety and excitement fill her heart; wondering if she would be as good as Soliana or her mother. As she neared the guild, Freya shook the thoughts from her head, believing it was not the time to second guess herself as it would do nothing but drag her down. Upon making it to the guild, Freya made her way to her godfather’s office where she saw him doing some form of paperwork. Knocking on the door, Freya warmly greeted the guild master who looked up from his work; only for his expression to quickly turn into unbridled elation. Getting up from his desk, the guild master rushed over to Freya and hugged his goddaughter tightly, expressing how good it was to see her after so long. Chuckling warmly, Freya embraced her godfather expressing her own joy at seeing him again. Looking over Freya, the guild master exclaimed how much his goddaughter had grown. Though overjoyed to see Freya, the guild master questioned where Sigrid was and the reason for such an unexpected visit. Telling her godfather that her mother was back home, Freya proudly exclaimed how she traveled from her home to join the Valkrus guild. Hearing Freya utter these words, the guild master’s face lit up with even more joy as he expressed his pride in having his other goddaughter join the guild. Walking Freya down to the registry counter, the guild master continued to gush at how good it was to have Freya join and how he had much faith in her to do well. After registering with the guild, Freya expressed her confidence in her ability, knowing that her mother’s training would aid her well.
Over the course of several weeks, Freya did whatever requests she could do in order to improve both her standing within the guild and her experience. Freya worked diligently and used the skills passed on to her by her mother to succeed in the various requests she undertook, believing she would be just as successful as Sigrid. Continuing to live in comfort in the Hildr village, Freya did as best she could all the while engaging with others of the village; from interacting with other guild members, sharing her stories with her godfather, and reuniting with old friends and her bigger surrogate sister Soliana. However, as time went on, Freya began receiving recognition, but not for the reason she wanted. As time progressed, various guild members began approaching Freya, frequently comparing her efforts to that of her mother’s, either comparing her ability to her parent’s or critiquing her success based on Sigrid’s past successes. These constant comparisons, while not ill-intentioned, constantly gnawed away at her confidence as she felt both as if she wasn’t good enough and that her status was inherently tailored to her mothers. As a result, these comparisons caused Freya’s performance to suffer, and the comparisons only increased, only with more negative tinges to them. It wasn’t long before Freya became downtrodden; and although she tried to keep pace, she ultimately felt like she couldn’t. However, despite this, Freya managed to achieve the rank of a hunter; but this victory only felt hollow as she knew the more unwanted criticisms and pressure would be placed on her, something that deeply unnerved her. After being given her new guild badge, Freya could only look at it with a mix of sadness and disdain. As Freya began to think about future possibilities and began imagining worst case scenarios regarding her performance, she felt an undeniable pressure on her heart. Needing a moment to herself, Freya left the guild to collect her thoughts, going to the outskirts of the town where few people would bother her. Sitting on a large rock that overlooked the horizon, Freya simply looked out as she tried to process her thoughts. As Freya thought to herself, she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. Startled, Freya turned to see it was only Soliana who congratulated her younger sister on her success in making it to the rank of a hunter. Dismally, Freya thanked Soliana, staring back at her guild badge immediately after. Asking Freya what was wrong, Soliana sat next to her depressed sister. Frustrated, Freya told Soliana how even though she was somewhat happy that she made the rank of a hunter, she felt it was meaningless due to many of the other guild members comparing her to her mother. Patting Freya on the back, Soliana admitted how she knew the same feeling, as various guild members did the same with her due to being Sigrid’s successor. Quickly remembering the responsibility that her mother placed on Soliana, Freya asked her sister how she managed to cope with the pressure. Chuckling, Soliana told Freya that even though she was meant to be Sigrid’s successor, she made it clear to others that she is NOT Sigrid and would do things her own way, stating that after a while people saw her as her own person due to her own success and style. Hearing this Freya managed to smile, even if only by a little. Continuing to look at her badge, Freya told Soliana she was unsure if she could overcome the thoughts of the people due to her own performance suffering due to what others were saying and expressing her uncertainty with staying with the guild. Thinking for a moment, Soliana smiled and gently grabbed Freya by the arm, saying that she should talk to the guild master, knowing that he would be able to help. Smiling, Freya agreed to talk to her godfather about the situation, even if she was still uncertain about how things would go.
Walking back to the guild, Freya and Soliana went to speak to their godfather in his office, believing he could offer much needed advice. After reaching the guild master’s office, Freya and Soliana walked in and were both greeted by their enthusiastic godfather, who congratulated the former on her new rank as hunter. However, upon seeing Freya’s low energy, the guild master asked what was wrong, only for Freya to say she wanted to talk to him about something bothering her. Sensing the seriousness in Freya’s voice, the guild master told his goddaughter she could tell him anything. Inviting Freya and Soliana to sit down, the guild master closed the door so that a serious discussion could be had. Speaking to her godfather about everything that had been happening and what she had been feeling as a result, Freya expressed her frustration and how she was unsure if she wanted to continue being a guild member. Upon hearing Freya’s plight, the guild master expressed his own guilt in the situation, due to proudly telling many of the guild members how Freya was Sigrid’s daughter, as many of them had long since forgotten. Never expecting it to come to such a level, the guild master apologized but expressed his own desire to see Freya go farther due to not just having faith in her but seeing how well she performed on her requests she undertook. However, the guild master expressed his desire to see Freya happy and told her that leaving the guild was probably the better option; going on to state that Freya shouldn’t give up on wanting to be strong like Soliana or her mother. The guild master told Freya that the best course of action would be for her to be a traveling warrior, where she wouldn’t be tailored to the guild and free to establish a name for herself away from the judgements of anyone else in the guild. Hearing this suggestion, Freya expressed her own doubts if she would be able to succeed due, stating how she wanted to be like her mother. Kneeling in front of Freya, the guild master told his goddaughter that like Soliana, she had the potential to be greater than her mother and that he knew that Sigrid trained Freya well. Patting Freya on the head, the guild master told his goddaughter that she could still be just like Sigrid, but if she were to branch out and go her own path, she would be able to do greater things. The sincerity in her godfather’s voice in addition to the reaffirming looks of Soliana, rekindled Freya’s motivation and due to faith placed on her, she couldn’t help but smile and state how she would do as her godfather suggested. Hugging Freya, the guild master told his goddaughter that if her decision was final, she should fulfill a few more requests in order to save money, after which she should see the world and do just as much good as her mother did, sharing her might with the people she comes across. Excitedly, Freya exclaimed how she would do just as the guild master suggested! Laughing jovially, the guild master told Freya that she would do great and how he wanted to hear about her exploits; with Soliana stating how she wanted to hear as well. Her spirit revitalized, Freya thanked both Soliana and the guild master for their help, promising that she would not let them down. Over the next couple of weeks, Freya did as she was suggested and took whatever requests she could get, saving money for her journey. After earning more than enough, Freya packed her belongings, saying goodbye to both Soliana and her godfather, ready to start a new chapter in her life; one where the pages weren’t predetermined, and she was the only writer.
Following her departure from the guild, Freya traveled the land, exploring various locations, and assisting those in need; and as many extended their gratitude towards her, she felt truly alive and able to do anything she set her mind to. Freya was truly prepared to make her mark, and it was one that she knew she would be proud of!
Personality: At her core, Freya has a kind-hearted and considerate personality that is further complemented by the equally warm and upbeat aura that she emanates. Her general kindness and compassion are displayed frequently by her welcoming attitude and by the various interactions with those around her, most of which are very positive. Compounding her warm and friendly disposition is her generous and free-hearted demeanor; as Freya will willingly offer aid and money to those in need, sometimes going out of her way to do so. Further adding to her kind nature, Freya has shown to be rather affectionate in various instances. However, Freya can be rather bold with how she chooses to express her affections at times. While close hugs and cuddling are a common occurrence, Freya has a habit of issuing compliments that, while innocent to her, can make others feel somewhat uncomfortable; such as her referring to both Maple and Orion as “cute” and complimenting the former’s body. Interestingly enough, this boldness extends to Freya herself as she doesn’t express feelings of shame at various moments such as donning the minimal attire she initially started with or bathing with close allies due to believing there is no harm in doing so. Further adding to this, is Freya’s almost nonchalant attitude and comments during these moments; which more often than not baffle or astonish others who have witnessed this side of her. However, this is not to say that Freya is completely without shame as she gets easily embarrassed when the topic of romance is brought up or when she is required to wear attire she deems as “silly”; both of which cause her to blush wildly as a result. Ironically, Freya has a clear understanding of privacy and can tone down her more brazen side in moments where it would be considered inappropriate to showcase such behavior, such as in certain social settings.
Like her mother, Freya has proven to be both outgoing and a hard worker; evident by her training and work with the Valkrus guild, as well as the lengths she is willing to go to assist and protect people she comes across on her journeys, despite not having any obligation to do so. Having been influenced by both her mother and adoptive sister, Freya strongly desires to be seen as a hero to others, not for fame and glory, but due to wanting to be seen as a glimmer of hope to those in need; just as Sigrid and Soliana have before her. So great is this desire, that Freya refuses to back down when trying to save others from dangerous individuals such as bandits or outlaws regardless of whether or not the odds are in her favor. Unfortunately, with this commitment to her goal, comes Freya’s unwavering persistence, which can quickly evolve into abject stubbornness; as she will continue to push onward even when giving up or retreating would be the more sensible option.
While many of Freya’s motivations and drive stem from a good place, she has a tendency to push forward with her own personal justice; mainly in what she believes to be right and wrong. For this reason, she can be firm (if not rigid) in her pursuit of righting the wrongs done to others; at times imposing her views on others and refusing to have it challenged as a result. This is heavily shown in how she frequently ropes others into situations, failing to see that she’s not giving them much of a choice in the matter. Though her pushy demeanor has gotten her into trouble at times, she genuinely feels remorse when she realizes she has pushed someone too far and is quick to apologize as a result. Interestingly enough, despite her pursuit of justice and what she believes is right, Freya’s views aren’t black and white; as she knows there are various gray areas that can exist depending on the situation and varying viewpoints. For this reason, Freya’s behavior can quickly shift based on both the situation and the information she receives; allowing her to temper her views and think a bit more rationally.
Although normally kind hearted and caring, Freya can sometimes lash out at those who annoy her enough; and while not as short tempered as her adoptive sister Soliana, she can be almost as forceful if provoked. However, she has shown to be far more patient in certain situations, with her temper being more akin to steadily boiling water. However, there are times in which her anger can quickly reach its peak such as when loved ones are put into harm’s way. This is exemplified by Freya’s hostile response when Maple was threatened by raiders; as Freya not only rushed to defend her friend but displayed a threateningly confrontational demeanor to the aggressors as a result.
Freya has proven to have the makings and ambitions of a hero, very similar to her predecessors Sigrid and Soliana. This is evident by her willingness to confront dangerous individuals, in order to save or protect others and her lack of further reason to take such actions. Even those who possess more experience have commented on this, such as Relena and the Valkrus guild master. However, what truly holds Freya back is her impulsiveness and recklessness at times; as she will sometimes rush into situations without considering the full scope and weight that it carries, which usually causes more issues for her. It’s during these moments that others may need to reign Freya in so that she doesn’t do anything too reckless or regrettable; as well as getting her to listen to logic and reason as opposed to following pure emotion. Despite her impulsive nature, Freya has proven that she is fully capable of planning and forethought in some cases. This is most evident in how Freya handles both her supplies and finances; being both very frugal and resourceful, very rarely spending more than she needs to and always preparing in case of emergencies.
Although Freya wishes to be like her mother, she wants to put a great deal of distance between her and the influence that her mother has. The reason for this is due to Freya wanting to become as great as her mother but by using her own merit; and not wanting any success to be attributed to the fame or influence that Sigrid garnered. As such, Freya very rarely mentions her mother to strangers due to not wanting to be treated differently as a result of the connection she has. Freya’s kind soul and brave spirit have earned her the admiration and respect of many people she has helped, so much so that her goal could very well be in her grasp; but due to how much she has to learn, she still has a long journey ahead of her. However, with her enthusiasm and persistence, Freya will be sure to walk the path that leads her to her goal; being sure to share her stories with all of those who will listen.
And there you have it! Another lovely lass to the roster, and one who has various ties with others on the roster. Be sure to look out for Freya and her interactions with other characters in the future. This is an old pic done by my friend Jessicaelwood , who gifted me ownership of the character! I hope you all enjoy!
*TRIVIA: Freya shares a similar canine mix quality with one other character, that being Lucine; with both being mixes of 2 different canines. Freya, being a mix of wolf and retriever, and Lucine being a mix of fox and dog.
