"WELCOME, FOOLISH MORTALS, TO THE HAUNTED MANSION!"
Disney's The Haunted Mansion is one of my all-time favorite attractions at the parks; it has so much story and lore behind it that it's no wonder we are getting a new movie, we got a movie in the past, comics, and fan canons becoming actual canon. It's just a fascinating attraction that hooks you right away with the opening scene; The Haunted Stretching Portraits.
For context; when you are loaded into the mansion, you enter a chamber with seemingly innocent portraits, but as the room stretches, the portraits show more and eventually reveal a macabre, morbid, yet humorous image of how the people in the pictures met their demise. It's already telling you a story before you even board a Doom Buggie!
That's why for Halloween, I commissioned this piece of my Drohan-verse characters as the characters in the portraits:
- Nathaniel the Dragon as Alexander, the man standing on a keg of dynamite
- Penny the Syrian Brown Bear as Sally Slater, the woman eaten by a crocodile (as portrayed by Cooper the Gator)
- Ezili the Polar Merbear as Constance, the Groom Murderer (Mataur being the stand-in for one of her many victims)
- Drohan, Greg, and Chris Hobbs, Big Hobbs, and Skinny Hobbs respectively. Chris is living up to his Unlucky nature, being the first bear to sink in the quicksand.
