Curse of Bursomosk"As you had deceived and murdered my servants, I cast unto you deep into the pits of your own evil. Your wine will be blood, and the sun your enemy. Your heritage is that of sickness and decay, demons your friends and the dead your family. The excesses of your cruelty shall be upon your lips for all eternity, and none of you shall leave this land till Anar returns and redeems you for your sins against us." -Mel Coldfinger's Curse on the BurosmosksCuriously, of all the human realms, only Estan and its realm was afflicted by liches, whose realm was visited by the infamous Kerkian lich Mel Coldfinger. In legend, the Lord of a powerful Estani realm was visited by Kerkian clansmen belonging to the retinue of the lich. The Kerks visited them within a great forest mansion, and asked the lord for knowledge. Convinced by his local priest to kill the Kerks, the lord of the manor laughed and enjoyed a show as the Kerkian envoys were murdered, feasting with his family. For his evil deed, Mel cursed the family and it's kin with a powerful curse, becoming one of the first vampiric clans. Thus the Line of Bursomosk was forged, a line of ancient and quarantined creatures living in shadows, tuned with undeath and damned an eternity tied to a dark, acidic liquid which runs through both their veins and the waters beneath the manor.
Vampirism in the world is tied directly to the Line of Bursomosk, although the dark practice is also tied to the Kerks in general. A form of torture for most, the vampirism is tied deeply with a transformative and body dissolving black goop which is tied to ancient demonology. Vampires are undead, kept alive by the dark power in their veins, but in order to retain their minds must be constantly devouring flesh and blood of living things. As they lapse on this requirement, demonic features begin to spring from their body such as horns, and a tail growth, becoming more animalistic over time. The sun burns them, and the sight and sound of anything holy hurts them and causes them stress. Often considered slaves to their own body, vampires often live lonesome and short lives outside the manor of Bursomosk, a haunted ruin under constant quarantine to this very day.
The Lichery Wars was one of the few times which vampires had a brief time to shine, their tuning with undead made them being one of the few beings capable of commanding undead without the needs for mages. Most vampire are formerly seasoned, and now immortal, soldiers and adventurers who traveled to the haunted manor in Estan to seek treasures from beneath the ancient family vault and fell victim to the curse. The Line of Bursomosk served as officers and 'knights' to the liches during the revolt, being incredibly skilled and powerful warriors. However, their limitations also caused the creatures great distress, and the knights were infamously traitorous. Some say they followed a singular and powerful vampiric lord, rumored to be a Bursomosk prince, but such mysteries remain unsolved as such a lord died during the revolt.
