<<Prison Arc>>
<<Am I a Demon? | I am a Demon | In Arrogance We Fall | No Regrets | Mistakes Were Made | Even Though I Am a Demon>>
With Byakko's execution confirmed, both Kumatetsu and Iozen are faced with a week of introspection and preparation for the demon's demise. Iozen is spending his down time thinking over his past actions, his conscience ever-present as he tries to find an answer on what justice means. And given a terrible task, Kumatetsu works to harden his heart to get past the looming death of his former friend. And in the middle of it all is Byakko retreating into himself, waiting for the day of his execution while Lord Soshi works on the outside, seeing this as a test for all three of them. Whether they pass, or fail, is up to them. He just wonders if they are ready for what comes next, and what they'll learn from this.

Damn... I cried...
No, but seriously, that scene did make me cry a bit. Kinda went 180 from sad to happy and I'm a sucker for those (especially when built well).
The end does bring a lot of, let's say, uncertainties. All I can say without spoiling much is that I can't wait to see how they resolve!

Looking back, I think every small victory felt like a big win and I somewhat felt a sense of happiness whenever things changed. Their perspective definitely was grim, just I was feeling a bit more hopeful.
Like in drama series, I see myself as the random guy shouting at the TV "No!", "Come on!", "Yes!" and "Yaaaay!". The whole sequence was a lot of the last two for me :D
And I totally agree with your point. Things would get boring without some small wrenches in our plans (or in our case, story).

Oh damn, I had no idea how this was going to end. I figured something had to happen during the execution itself, but I wouldn't have expected this sort of reconciliation, even if it's an unsteady peace that comes from it.
It's been really great being along for the ride; I know from your Twitter how much you've been thinking about this story. I'm excited to see what's next.
