The second and final story related to an artist and a commission I got from her.
Last year was a busy year for me and while I still had time to write, some of my tales were in between and I admit they could have been better. One was a tale where Daisy, the cheerful princess, is turned into a genie. Finally, the better, and final, version of it was completed. It follows the same plot, but I changed some small details and corrected some things.

“Well, let’s get done with this!” Daisy said in an exciting tone.
Daisy, Peach, Rosalina and Pauline were invited to participate in a special board, one that neither of them knew of their existence before that moment. Its name was Spiral City and as expected, it was a board with some buildings and a dark motif. The other outstanding detail about the board was that after a certain number of rounds, it would change its layout, moving around, rearing buildings and even appearing and disappearing some of those.
The other thing that caught the attention of the four gals was the power-ups and the lack of stars. With the former, while the usual things like mushrooms and dice were there, they were from a different kind. Mushrooms that would put anyone to sleep for a turn, helmets that would manipulate or read minds and the cards that would duplicate the stars had a green spiral on it. With the former, the stars were replaced by pocket watches that also had an ability of their own that no one dared to test. Although the whole place had weird things, the one that stood the most was the special event space, and unlike the ones of other boards, no one wanted to land on it.
The space in question had the similar neon green and black spiral of the cards and nothing else. There wasn’t any information and each time someone tried to search for what it did it stayed as a mystery. None of the girls wanted to land on it as they were scared about what would happen to them, and even though it could be like those weird minigames or events that they experienced, they didn’t want to take a risk.
Sadly, after Daisy rolled her dice and got a three, she landed on that space. The other three girls had different reactions: Peach gasped in fear as she was worried about her best friend. Rosalina was so shocked that she couldn’t speak. Lastly, Pauline repeated how sorry she was as on her last turn, she got the city to change its layout, putting that space in front of Daisy. Of course, the princess was scared too, but decided not to let that ruin their game and assured the rest that everything was going to be fine.
“Well, I won’t let this city and their events stop me from winning this!” the short-haired gal stated in a confident tone, this being her way of masquerade her fear. She was nervous, scared about what was going to happen with that event, but at the same time, she wanted to win and get another trophy from her collection. It was a risk, but Daisy was ready to take it as she advanced to space with the spiral.
“Spiral City Special Event! Spiral City Special Event!
While the announcer repeated the phrase, the layout of the city changed as Daisy was moved to a different building, one that wasn’t there before. When the city stopped moving, the short-haired gal found herself in front of a wheel of choices. Being aware of those kinds of events, Daisy knew that this could either be beneficial for her or turn badly.
“Secret Spy? Butler or Maid? Mermaid Song? Wish Granter? Jester?...I expected things like losing half of my coins or my pocket watch. I don’t understand the things on this wheel,,” Daisy said in confusion. In those kinds of events, the roulette would have the description of what was going to happen, but just like the green spiral space, she was left without a clear answer. Still, being guided by her desire to win , she went on to spin the wheel. “Well, we can’t continue unless I do this.”
After waiting for a few seconds, the wheel stopped on Wish Granter. The short-haired gal expected the announcer to say something out loud, but instead, the city lights were turned off, leaving the four of them in complete darkness. Daisy was creeped out by those, feeling a bit guilty as she was the one that caused the blacout. Before she could ask any of her friends if they were okay or if they had an idea about what was happening, she was blinded by the lights of the wheel. Surprisingly, it didn’t have the options she had seen before, being replaced by a pattern of colors that always had the same four colors, and always went in the same order. First orange, then a dark cyan, then a dark blue and finally a light orange.
As she locked her gaze into the wheel, Daisy started to feel dazed. The ideas of confusion and fear remained there, but while looking at the wheel and its captivating colors, she started to ignore the rest while putting all of her attention on it. Part of her felt that something was wrong yet the task of taking her eyes to the pretty and outstanding shades of blue and orange was far from an easy thing to do.
Even though she was on the top of the building, Peach, Rosalina and Pauline could see what was happening thanks to some of the screens that were on the buildings. They could notice that Daisy was looking at something that was off-camera, but whatever it was, they knew that it was messing with the mind of her friend. “Daisy! Look away!” Peach screamed, hoping that her words could make her friend come back to her senses. While the princess of Sarasaland couldn’t hear the words of her friends, there was another thing she heard, a calm voice that
“You are not a princess, you are a genie!”
“You have to serve your master!”
“Being a genie is something you love, and something you always wanted!”
It was the voice of the announcer, who unlike the other times where he had an energetic yet elegant voice, this time he was using a very calm voice, with the only thing that remained there being that elegant tone he used. The phrases had both a positive and a negative effect on Daisy. On one hand, she had a moment to think about what was happening to her as they were doing something with her mind. She couldn’t think well and felt tired and dazed, but even in that state, the princess knew she was in danger. On the other hand, while that was the case, a small part of her liked what was happening. The pretty colors, those strange yet nice thoughts and her starting to like the words of the announcer, taking them as something good.
He mentioned genies, a magical creature that was considered pretty and magical. The whole thing was obviously bad, but deep on the inside, Daisy felt a bit sad and jealous as she didn’t consider herself as pretty as Peach, Rosalina or Pauline. She got compliments like cute or that she was nice, and while she appreciated those, it wasn’t like the compliments that her friends got.
“Genies are…pretty…I…I want to be pretty…” the princess said mindlessly, not noticing the words that came out of her mouth. Even though Daisy never looked away from the hypnotic wheel, she failed to notice that a new item appeared from below: a decorative bottle with an Arabian motif. Usually, these kinds of bottles were colorful and had a lot of gems and while it had the latter, it was transparent. There was a reason for its strange appearance, and soon she was going to know what was going to be…and even enjoy it.
“Take the top off!”
“Surrender and accept your fate!”
“This is what you always wanted! Stop fighting and do it!”
The announcer said, once again using his calm and elegant voice to manipulate the princess into doing what he desired. She was still fighting against the hypnotic colors and confusing thoughts, but at the same time, she was leaning more towards submitting completely as her mind became weaker by the minute. At that point, Daisy started to imagine herself as a genie, one that would gladly grant any kind of wishes and be loved by her master, and especially, being told that she was very pretty. It was a crazy idea , leaving her life and past behind to be turned into a mindless slave, but at that point, Daisy didn’t have much energy left, nor cared much about anything else than wasn’t that idea.
Deep in the trance state, taken by the hypnotic colors, and no longer fighting, the princess walked slowly towards the decorative bottle, ready to become what she always desired to be. “No! Daisy! Snap out of it!” Peach screamed again, still trying to make her friends come back to her senses. Rosalina and Pauline also tried to help, with the former trying to get close to the top of the building while the latter tried to find a way to change the layout of the city again.
Seeing what the other contestants were doing, the announcer did his part, stopping them with a power-up known as “Depp Trance Mushroom”, a kind of mushroom that would make a contestant sleep for a whole turn. Pauline was the first one to close her eyes while Peach and Rosalina tried to resist a bit, only for the latter to also close her eyes, not having enough energy to continue.
Contestants are forbidden to interfere!”
Was the last thing Peach heard before closing her eyes, feeling guilty for not doing enough to help her friend. With the three competitors in that state, the announcer went back with Daisy, whose gaze never stopped looking at the hypnotic wheel of colors. Finally, after thinking about the last command, Daisy went closer and held the decorative bottle. She still was fighting back, although it was poorly in comparison. The ideas about submitting, giving herself in and letting the bottle do whatever it pleased won over her, with the thing that she liked the most being the idea of being turned into a genie.
“Now it’s time for you to take the top off!”
“Do it, competitor!”
“Accept your fate and submit!”
Hearing the last phrase, Daisy stopped fighting and did as told, taking the top from the decorative bottle while smiling. Her action caused the magical object to change from being transparent to being a bottle with color, one that had the same shade of orange as Daisy's dress. It was a good change, and it wasn’t the only thing noticeable that happened as orange smoke started to come out of it, quickly going closer to the hypnotized princess.
The sensation was nice, and the more the smoke covered her, the deeper into the trance state she went. It wasn’t as bad as she imagined, Daisy was with a warm feeling that made her feel calm and happy, and at the same time she was thinking about her new life and future, how she was going to be a pretty and powerful genie that was going to be loyal to her master. It was something good and she loved it…until she dropped the bottle.
While the object in question wasn’t destroyed, the sound that it made when it hit the floor was enough to make Daisy awake for a moment. It didn’t take much for the short-haired gal to come to her senses and see what was happening as she started to fight back. “Wait! This was a mistake…I’m not a genie…I’m…I’m…” she said, quickly seeing her state, and how difficult it was going to be for her to escape from that situation. In a last effort of resisting, and thinking that would be the thing that would save her, she continued to repeat who she was: Daisy, the princess of Sarasaland.
Even though it was a good idea, and it worked at first, after a couple of minutes the short-haired gal felt tired. She used most of her energy at the start, repeating her words as fast and loud as she could, but what the princess didn’t take into consideration was how long the whole process was going to take. Thanks to her mistake, Daisy didn’t have much energy to continue with her action, at most she could still repeat her word but not as loud as she wanted. She was so tired that even the colorful pattern in her eyes changed their pace from a fast to a slow one, the signal that while part of her continued to have some control, that was the last moment to make an attempt to break free before complete submission.
Not having enough energy to continue, the princess fell down on her knees while she continued to repeat her own name and who she was in a quiet and tiring tone. She saw her mistake, being blinded by fear and manipulated by the hypnotic wheel and ideas that the announcer said. If she wasn’t easily taken by those, there might have been a small chance for her to break free. Sadly, the only thing left for her to do was waiting to get this to come to an end, and to get more from that nice feeling and maybe a moment where she could rest. Even though this was an unwinnable battle, Daisy made a last attempt at fighting, too tired to think of anything else.
“I’m. Daisy…I’m…I’m…” it was on the tip of her tongue, who she was, but instead of saying what she wanted, the ideas finally won over her as she took a small pause before going forward with it. I’m…I’m…a genie…”she said quietly, taking another pause after this to think about it. Saying it made her feel awake, calm as she no longer had that sentiment of fear or tiredness, just the most wonderful thing she could imagine.
It was just like the announcer said, she always wanted this, and if she submitted, there would be good things for her. Daisy started to smile as the spirals went back to flow at a fast pace. Finally, after a while, the princess dropped those negative thoughts related to this experience. Her fear and doubts were replaced with admiration as she felt honored to get this unique change, and she needed to do one last thing before going forward with the event.
“I’m a…genie…I’m…Daisy the genie…I’m Daisy the genie!” the short-haired gal said proudly, giggling after mentioning the last part. While she was still a princess, Daisy finally came to terms about her new life. With the princess finally deciding to submit completely to the powers of the bottle, the orange smoke finally covered her completely. The short-haired gal giggled, excited to see what was going to happen and enjoying the changes around her body.
The first thing that happened was that she stopped feeling her legs. Even though the smoke covered the lower part of her legs, Daisy was looking at it, enjoying that nice feeling around the lower part of her body. She was surprised to see the end of an orange genie tail, which had the same shade of her outfit. On a closer examination, the princess gasped in happiness as she saw that the tail was hers. Eager to see what was going to happen next, and wanting to enjoy this as much as possible, Daisy closed her eyes and let the smoke do its thing.
With the princess in the state of complete submission, the smoke would easily do its job with no problem. As the decorative bottle started to glow, the outfit of Daisy also changed. Her dress got ripped off and the part of her chest was reworked into a more fitting style, one that went with the Arabian motif of the bottle. Her new top was a bit more revealing, showing part of her chest and belly, with the latter also getting a belly ring.
She also got a new necklace, belt and earrings that had her symbols of her flower. Finally, the biggest change was with both her hair and her crown. Slowly, Daisy’s hair started to grow to the point of being almost at the level of her hips. Finally, her crown got smaller, turning itself into a special hair clip that made her have a ponytail hairstyle, and just like her necklace, belt and earrings, the object in question also had the same flower symbol. At that moment, Princess Daisy stopped existing and Daisy the genie was born. At last, the pretty genie got an opportunity to see how she looked, feeling happy to see that she finally became pretty like her friends, if not, more pretty than them.
With the special event finally over, the layout of the city once again changed. For the first time since the start of the competition, the three gals were close to each other. At the same time, Peach, Rosalina and Pauline woke up and quickly noticed the changes around the place. Their main priority was finding their friend, and after looking around, Pauline pointed out the special event space. Unlike the last time, it didn’t have a spiral, but a flower, one that looked like the symbol of Daisy.
Instead of the princess, there was an object close to that space: an orange decorative bottle with multiple orange and blue jewels, and a main jewel pattern that was similar to the flower symbol. While waiting for their friend to appear, the bottle started to glow as orange smoke came out of it. They were taken by a surprise the moment they saw someone coming out of it as it was none other than Daisy. From her outfit to her style, the princess was someone completely different, no longer a nice and cheerful princess but a genie.
“Greetings! My name is Daisy! I’m the genie of the bottle and a loyal slave to the ones in control of Spiral City. Land in my space and take a chance with my special event!~” The former princess said in a cheerful tone. It was the first time she came out of her bottle after her djinnification and was eager to test her new powers with any of her friends. There was also the feeling that was difficult for her to explain, it was something that was so good to her and wanted to get more of it and she knew that was going to happen the moment any of her the three gals would land in her space. Before any of them could try to talk to their friend the announcer interrupted them.
“Minigame time!”
Peach, Rosalina and Pauline were quickly taken away from the board, leaving the genie behind. The three gals were still playing, but it wasn’t for fun anymore, it was either to get out of the game and/or to save their friend, if there was a chance for them to do that. While they looked scared, Daisy was feeling happy, enjoying her new role and waiting quietly for the minigame to end. She was glad for this opportunity, no longer being a princess but a genie, or as the game called it: a Wish Granter.
There was nothing in her mind that wasn’t related to going deeper into that wonderful state of trance and to serve her masters, who were the ones controlling Spiral City. Even after the game would come to its end, Daisy would remain as a genie as she gave herself to the bottle, meaning that there wasn’t a way for her to go back to normal. She still had the chance of leaving the city when she got permission, but apart from that, there was no way back for the pretty genie.
Daisy left everything behind to get this role. Her title as princess, her kingdom, her desire to win the game, and especially, her free will. In a strange kind of way, she ended up as the winner of the game and while it wasn’t the victory she imagined, it was something better from her perspective. It was a mystery what was going to happen next. One of her friends would land on her space? A special event would start and someone would also get a wonderful role like the one she had? All of her friends would leave without landing on a special event space? Thanks to the city always changing its layout, it was difficult to get a clear answer about that, but still, that wasn’t an issue, as sooner or later, one of them was going to land on the space.
And Daisy was looking forward to that moment.
