Judith Gwendolyn Reinard (born September 30, 1980) is an American politician, carnivore rights activist, former commercial pilot, and retired United States Navy officer serving as the senior United States senator from New Jersey, a seat she has held since 2029. A member of the Democratic Party, Reinard is the first fox elected to the United States Senate, as well as the first Predator-Carnivore, the first Asian-American, and the first female U.S. senator from New Jersey. Reinard is a candidate in the 2040 Democratic Party presidential primaries. Previously, she was the Democratic Party nominee for president of the United States in the 2036 election and unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2032. A member of the Reinard political family, she is the identical twin of New Jersey Governor Lina Reinard (D) and the mother of Representative Jerry Reinard (D-TX-20) and Representative Alexa Reinard (D-NJ-10).
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to an affluent family, her father was of French descent and her mother is a Chinese immigrant. Reinard went on to graduate from Fletcher University with a degree in physics. Reinard enrolled in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot in 2002 and was first deployed in 2006. One of the first female fox naval aviators, Reinard flew combat missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria before she resigned from the Navy in 2010. She then moved to Willowfield, New Jersey, and became a pilot for Atlantic Eastern Air Lines. Following her early resignation from the Navy, Reinard became actively involved in the Carnivore Lives Matter (CLM) movement. In 2024, Reinard gained national prominence when she gave a Congressional testimony on prey nationalism and herbivore supremacy in the aviation industry.
In 2027, Reinard announced her candidacy in the 2028 U.S. Senate election in New Jersey. Reinard won the Democratic nomination with 75% of the vote and defeated the Republican Party nominee, television personality Dr. Mehmed Ox with 51% of the vote. She succeeded retiring Senator Herbert Hernandez. Reinard ran as a candidate for president of the United States in the 2032 Democratic primaries, launching her campaign in April 2031. Although initially being seen as an underdog, Reinard was able to gain considerable momentum in mid-2031 due to her outspoken activism, effective campaign strategy, and participation in numerous town hall meetings and television debates. Despite winning the Connecticut caucuses and the Maine primary, Reinard suspended her campaign in May 2032, citing diminishing funds; she endorsed former Secretary of State Sheila Shepard.
Reinard was reelected as senator in 2034, she defeated Representative John McCowell (R-NJ-02) with 66% of the vote. As senator, she is generally considered a progressive democratic socialist, with Reinard describing her political ideology as "socialism with American values;" and in her own words: a mixture of ethical, people-centered capitalism with social democracy. Citing the Nordic model as an inspiration, Reinard is opposed to communism. Reinard advocates for healthcare as a right, universal basic income, stricter gun control, police reform and accountability, legalizing recreational marijuana, educating Critical Species Theory, raising the federal minimum wage to $30, and congressional term limits. She is a vocal critic of Presidents Wilfred (2029 - 2037) and Buckley (2037 - present).
Reinard launched her second candidacy for president of the United States in March 2035. She won the Democratic nomination in August 2036 and selected Arizona Senator Tim Stagg as her vice presidential running mate. Although Reinard and Stagg won the national popular vote by more than 3 million, they lost the Electoral College vote, thereby losing the 2036 presidential election to the Republican ticket of incumbent Vice President Dusty Buckley and Florida Senator Jon DeSanta. Reinard became the senior U.S. senator from New Jersey and the dean of New Jersey's congressional delegation when Senator Cody Barker retired in January 2037. Honoring her self-imposed term limit, Reinard will not run for a third term in the Senate in 2040.
On February 21, 2039, Reinard announced her candidacy in the 2040 Democratic Party presidential primaries. Reinard's platform includes universal basic income, Medicare for All, Green New Deal, statehood for Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, constitutional protection of abortion, same-sex and interspecies marriages, abolishing the Electoral College, ending capital punishment, expanding the Supreme Court and introducing term limits for justices, banning the use of muzzles and aggression-inhibitor collars, reparations for Predator-Carnivores, building a nationwide high-speed rail network, space exploration, and improving relations with China and the Asian African Prosperity Union to de-escalate the New Cold War.
As a former presidential nominee who won the 2036 popular vote, Reinard entered the 2040 Democratic primaries with a high name recognition, and she has been seen as the frontrunner for the nomination for president of the United States. If elected as the 50th president of the United States, Reinard would become the first fox, the first Asian-American, the first Jewish, the third Predator-Carnivore, the third Generation X, and the fourth female president.
