Dogs do in fact have color vision but most of the colors are very dull/muted. Especially reds as their eyes have a hard time with red, but they can easily see yellows and blues. In addition their vision is also blurrier than ours as dogs are naturally near sighted. However as a bonus their eyes are far better at detecting motion.
