what started as a doodle of my shiba inu character tobiko (from wayyy back in the day - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1693431/ ) became this.
i really like how this turned out! i haven't done too many (non-pixel art) backgrounds, and while it's a little "lol photoshop" i dig it. i miss japan a lot - japanese wilderness is so beautiful. here tobi enjoys some sake and relaxes in a hot spring bathed in moonlight.

Sometimes I ponder about characters long left behind being revisited. I picture it as a movie being revisited years later in a sequel, or a play transitioning acts. The time and place may have changed, but between acts they've always been up there in your head, doing their own thing, and your mind is the spotlight that shines back on them, sometimes in a much different light.
Err, but yes, I absolutely love this. Such a deep, contemplative expression to both mesh with and contrast with the serene, beautiful background. I imagine the place as her own secret. A place to go to and be alone, either to bask in the beauty of nature around her or soak away the stress of the day and dive into her mind. Perhaps both.
