This is my latest commission work and it was super fun to work on. A southern punk boar loosely based off of a javelina in the Mojave desert countryside. This was the client getting their fursona designed and drawn from description only with no reference sheet.
While I did a clean nicely colored design for the main picture of him, I wanted to try something a little different for the headshot so it didn't feel too much like I was presenting the same image twice. In this case I went for a thickly lined pop art style with simple cel shading and lots of gradient shading including over the lightly colored lines, complete with a badge-worthy title card. I have been experimenting with more pop art styles of work lately especially for headshots and I think I love them? They're really punchy (I guess you could say they pop uhuhuhuhu) and dynamic.
I have a personal fondness for cowboy hats and based this one off of one I've been considering buying for myself for a while. XD If you look closely you can spy a buffalo on the coin on the front.
