Sometimes, picking up suspicious objects in ancient temples is a good thing. You should definitely do that next time you visit one.
By the way, I wonder where Dialga and Giratina went? No matter, I'm sure they'll show up eventually.
You had come from overseas to visit the land of Sinnoh, to visit its many locations and see its many sights. Today however, was a special day, as you were visiting the ancient and beautiful town of Celestic. Though small and unassuming, it held great heritage, and was in close proximity to numerous landmarks important to the culture of Sinnoh, such as the location you were about to explore, the Celestic Ruins. A tour guide led you and other visitors through the cavernous opening, past worn sculptures and ancient murals, giving in depth explanations behind both what they depicted, and the long, intricate myths surrounding the land and its many inhabitants. Eventually, you were led into a large, almost temple-like room, cracked and crumbled pillars and plinths littering the area, bared off by rope fences, with signs saying not to touch. Despite its degraded appearance, you could almost envision what it had been like in the past. A monument to the land's deities, where offerings would be made, and prayers would be heard. As you wandered, your foot brushed against something. Looking down, it seemed to be a fragment of something pink and translucent. A piece of glass? Or perhaps a gemstone? Regardless, it would make a nice souvenir to remember this trip by. You pocketed it, hoping you wouldn't get in trouble. Nobody seemed to notice though, more distracted by the room itself.
“Welcome to the final stop on our journey. This area was said to once be a temple dedicated to the Almighty Sinnoh themself, the guardian of this land, and its most prestigious god. And why not? ”
All this wandering had made your feet begin to ache, so you found a spot out of the way to sit down and listen to the guide's tale as he continued to gesture to the different murals and carvings, leading the tour group around. You could tell he was very passionate about his job.
“Here you can see a mural depicting the guardians of the lakes, the envoys of the Almighty Sinnoh. It's said that when the land is threatened, the three will come together to call down the Almighty Sinnoh, as depicted.”
The aching in your feet continued to persist, so with a huff, you took off your shoes in the hopes that might help. Immediately some of the aching was relieved, but what you saw shocked you. Your socks were shredded to pieces, and where your feet once were was something inhuman. Large and bulky, covered in pearl coloured scales. They were almost elephantine in shape and size, with three large claws, and what you soon found to be a fourth jutting out from the violet coloured heel of your new feet. You awkwardly tried to speak up, but the other tourists seemed far too enraptured by the guide's fables
“They say the Almighty Sinnoh watched over this land as its guardian, maintaining order and protecting the land from evil. Under its watchful gaze, humans and pokemon lived in true harmony, without even the need for pokeballs. There was no conflict, no violence. No boundaries. They cared for each other regardless of size or shape, just a single people. In fact, there are tales of beings who blurred the lines between the two, being able to become Human OR Pokemon. Was it mere myth, or perhaps a Blessing from the Almighty Sinnoh themselves? I shall leave that up for you to decide”
Now you felt an aching in your hands, as you watched a strange aura flow over them, fingers extending, sharpening into claws, as the skin thickened into a dark grey leather and violet plates formed over the back of your hands. Not content to stop there, the aura flowed up your arms, more changes following closely behind, as your skin shifted to match that of your palms, and a pearl coloured plate began to grow, flaring out from the back of your wrist, reminiscent of a vambrace.
“However, peace cannot last forever. One day, the Almighty Sinnoh was witnessed fighting a great and terrible creature, a demon that lived in the darkness, and threatened to destroy everything. Their battle raged, reshaping the land around them, forming valleys and mountains. Until finally… the Almighty Sinnoh triumphed, banishing the creature back to the shadows. However, the battle had taken its toll, and the Almighty Sinnoh was weakened from its battle. It was forced to retreat back to the heavens to recover, and has yet to be seen again. In its absence, humans and pokemon eventually grew apart, tribes were formed, conflicts arose, and eventually the paradise that had been ancient Sinnoh became a distant memory. However, we of Celestic Town hold onto the belief the Almighty Sinnoh will one day return. And so, we try to preserve the old ways of true harmony, to prove this land still remembers it and what it has done for us.”
You noticed something poking out the corner of your vision. Either side of your face in fact. Two dark triangles. You reached up to feel them, only to wince slightly as it scraped against your claws. Cold. Metallic. And sharp it seemed. A more ginger touch around its edges revealed what you were dreading. Whatever they were, they were attached to your face now, situated either side of your mouth, which ominously began to slowly push out under your touch. Though you couldn't see it, your hair had also begun to shift and change, coalescing into a silver Mohawk, before fusing into a singular piece of metal atop your shifting skull, which was slowly being covered in pearl scales.
“There have been conflicting accounts on what the Almighty Sinnoh looks like and what its powers may be. Some records describe it as a winged bipedal, with power over space, others, a quadruped with dominion over time. These two depictions have become just as much a part of this land as the one they describe, as through the ages, clans have fought to prove their recount is the true one, and that conflict continues to this day amongst our historians and scientists. Truly, something interesting to contemplate”
You staggered to your feet, struggling to balance on your new legs, the spike in your heel giving some slight traction to keep you steady as you attempted to make your way over to the guide. With each step, your body swelled, the pearl scales climbing up your legs as the sleeves of your pants were torn apart and ruptured by their increased size, only to then be completely destroyed as a tail burst out from behind you, hips shifting apart to make way for the new sleek and reptilian appendage that swayed behind you, lines of violet decorating it's length, while likewise your shoulders began to swell, not only in size, but in shape, two large circular pauldrons tearing their way out from the sleeves of your shirt, two large pink gems embedded in their centres.
“Personally folks? I believe these two accounts are both true, and that the Almighty Sinnoh changes their form as they will, like how the day becomes night, and the seasons cycle. How else could such descriptions both match the same being, with such devout belief that people would wage war to prove they saw the true face of their guardian deity? We may never know for certain. What is known is its power. The Almighty Sinnoh could reshape the land with a touch of its claws. It could see all, and be anywhere-”
Your back began to ache as you took another step forward, almost double your original size as your body hunched over, two large silvery wings extending out from behind you, three large feathers jutting out from each. Your shirt, now gone the way of your pants, fluttered to the ground, revealing a grey waist and chest, covered by more of that pearl and violet armour, which had wrapped itself around your neck. A neck which, as you had begun to notice, had also begun to expand, stretching out to fill the gap in the armour
"- And its roar was said to reverberate throughout all of space and time…”
You cried out to the group, but instead an inhuman screech left your maw, reverberating through the cavern as your neck finished lengthening, meeting with your helm-like head.
“Yes… very much like that. Why, it is almost as… though…”
The guide finally noticed your presence, staring up at you in awe as the words fell from their mouth, your scarlet eyes gazing down at them, hiding the torrent of emotions currently running through your mind.
“Oh my. The Almighty Sinnoh! We are humbled to be in your presence. Please, have mercy upon us” they begged, bowing down to you, as the tour group began to excitedly point and gasp, some taking photos, as all eyes were directed toward you. Immediately you changed your mind. This wasn't good. You didn't want everyone to notice you now. How could you get out of here?
Instincts kicked in as a rift formed behind you, allowing you to escape, as you soon found yourself drifting in a strange void of stars and energy. ‘Space’. You could… sense everything from here. And by focusing, you could peer back into the world, seeing the guide freaking out as the tour group chattered excitedly amongst themselves. After all, they'd just come face to face with a living deity. You. You were now… a deity. You had all of space at your fingertips now.
You didn't know why, or how. A blessing from the Almighty Sinnoh itself? Or something else? Regardless, you were now here, and a whole new realm had opened up for you. Hopefully you could make the most of it.
By the way, I wonder where Dialga and Giratina went? No matter, I'm sure they'll show up eventually.
