For Day 5 of Monster Month I drew a character that actually feels at home against that custom background I put together for this challenge- Mametchi, from the Tamagotchi series. If pokemon is one of the pioneers of the monster raising genre, then Tamagotchi should certainly be counted among its ranks, first releasing months after the first pokemon game, and being one of the inspirations to allow Digimon to kindle the start to their series, it can't be denied that the Tamagotchi series is incredibly iconic. What's more is that Tamagotchis weren't just a fad that eventually died out like Pogs or Furbys, Tamagotchi pets are still being made to this day, now modeled after anime characters, and chances are you've seen at least one movie, show, book etc. that references this series like Turning Red or the Yu-Gi-Oh manga. Admittedly my knowledge on Tamagotchi is very limited, though hopefully I've sold you on its importance in the monster raising genre, and I'm hoping your October is more fun than cleaning up virtual poo.
