The world is constantly changing. At a minimum, those that want to survive have to keep up with it. When I see the towering clouds of smoke wafting up from the ruined remains of a burning orange and red sweeping uncontrollably over the place I once called a safe and loving home, its easy to feel hopeless, panic, and freak out. My instincts pushing me to fear the worst and expect doom to swiftly come. Its so easy to just let the anxiety take over, curl up and give up.
But I can't let that happen. Rolling over and accepting its over would only give the consuming force of destruction exactly what it wants. No, so long as I am alive it isn't over. I might not be strong enough to change the world or completely fix every problem in my life, but there is always something I can do about it, and that's what I try to focus on. If there's something, even a tiny minuscule contribution of effort I can make to protecting what I hold dear. And maybe, just maybe, those efforts will inspire and encourage others to do the same. The world around me may never be the same as it once was, but that's why my greatest weapon is Adaptability.
