A short sequence revolving around Angie, a young Child of the Egg from my stories. Made by the artist Pameloo https://www.deviantart.com/pameloo. I've added a snippet to each image to add to the story the series tells.
For days Angie had agonized over how to show her mother and father that beneath the black scales and large frame that she was still their daughter.
In secret she painted the image to show them the truth of who she would always be, both for herself and for her parents.
I hope they can see how much I still love them! My mind feels fuzzy when I think they might not want me around anymore. I don't want to feel fuzzy, I want to feel like Angie! I want to be Angie for Mommy and Daddy. That way none of us will have be alone when we can be together!
Only tears of happiness were shed when little Angie was at last able to coax her reluctant parents to see something 'super awesome important!'. Instead a corner was turned, and the process of accepting that their daughter, while no longer the tiny human girl that she once was, was still their one and only child. That she would always be their sweet little Angie no matter how big and strange she might seem.
For the first time, fear of Angie's strength did not enter her parent's hearts as her wing swept around them to draw them close to her warm scales. For the first time, fear of rejection did not enter Angie's heart as her parents had finally returned her hug with one of their own.
