I didn't manage to finish on time, but this piece is for the winter solstice - the most widely celebrated phenomenon across the world since, at least, Neolithic times. This is because after the longest night, there comes a day; the first day that is a little longer. And even though the winter is only starting, the hope for the spring is already there, helping to survive the dark, hungry times.
This piece has an additional meaning to it;
Ryfer (the dhole) is strongly connected with the Sun in a way I can't disclose yet. It would be a spoiler~ However, this connection is why, when trapped in the Arctic during the early winter, he wants to see the sun so badly. Bari, his Amarok companion, helps him get to a high enough ground to actually finally see it. This moment is extremely important for Ryfer, especially after many short and cloudy days, but also on a personal and spiritual level.
This is not an actual solstice scene; they would get a total polar night by then. Nevertheless it's a scene that very much corresponds with my own looking out for the hope for the spring. A hope for light and warmth, and a change in all matters that don't go too well at the time.
If any of you is going through their own personal night, I hope you will find your sun soon and will find the hope that will keep you going until the spring, even though you might still only see the winter that is ahead.
