The Skaven Empire always wanted to expand its influence as far as possible, even to other worlds. And then one day, a mad rat mage of clan Eshin invented a portal spell that he wrote after overdosing on warpstone powder. The clan did not really believe in the success of the teleportation ritual, since the magical formula was unreliable, but nevertheless the mage received about 100 volunteers. Mostly it was night runners and clanrats, only a few gutter runners and one assassin wanted glory in the sorcerer's team. Several hundred clan members gathered to watch such a spectacular event, just by that time the expedition leader had already finished drawing the magic circle and began to read his spell. But things often don't go the way the skaven want them to, and in the first minutes the madman could no longer control what he had conjured. A terrible storm of green flame raged, the spectators scattered in all directions, the mage with his cursed scroll burned in the fire, and the team was sucked into the funnel one by one. For an hour they floundered in the portal, screaming in fear and cursing the culprit of their unenviable fate, until they were finally thrown out into the clearing. The ratmen recovered from the shock and began to count their losses, because of its instability the exit to the new world opened high above the ground and about 25 skaven broke their necks upon landing, including the ambitious assassin.
The expedition was left without a leader, warpstones and any connection with their deity, moreover, their bodies were transformed. They were no longer tormented by constant hunger and aggression towards each other, they became taller, their lifespan and fertility became equal to human ones. But the greatest horror was experienced by that half of the team that became girls during the journey, on the other hand, this gave a strong foundation for a new civilization. Gradually, the followers of the Eshin clan settled into this new world, which was called Ashan by the locals. 20 years passed, a whole generation of new skaven grew up, but some old habits still showed in their society, such as disdain for the weak.
Zita was born like this, and although it was no longer customary to get rid of the weak, she was often subjected to many sorts of humiliation from her relatives. They even gave her the nickname "Miserable" so that she would always know her place in the clan. As a result, the poor girl grew up nervous, depressive and hating her own kind. All her life she dreamed of breaking away from the clan and the only way was to become a night runner whose role was reconnaissance. The head of the Eshin clan laughed for a long time at her decision, but noted her bravery and gave her the first task... which she and two other newcomers failed. The guards of the elven merchant seemed harmless until they took out their bows, only Zita, who had learned to run very fast, managed to escape from them alive. Having gained the long-awaited freedom, the ratgirl began to wander through various human cities, becoming increasingly distant from her relatives. Now she lives in one of the taverns, periodically making simple contracts and stealing goods at the market (mostly food).
