Dmitri didn't always have the luxury of expressing his true self to the world. There was a time where his sexuality was a closely guarded secret from his parents. He would pretend to go on dates with girls, push himself to do activities that seems "less gay", even regurgitate the same horrid bigotry his mother and father would spew. None of that saved him from being disowned once his front fell, leaving him alone in a cruel world.

But that was the past.

That was before he found a family more loving than his own that let him be himself, one willing to help pull him up and keep him safe. A family that he could rely on to back him, even when he thought no one else would. A family were he could be himself, and not some perfect false version of himself.

Dmitri Mikhailovich Yetsin may be called many things, not all good, but one thing he would never be hurt by again was someone calling him gay. No more would a fact be a mark of shame, not when he wears it like a badge of honor.
