I guess word reached really high up in Eltyr after that, because pretty much all of the operation's efforts were focused on that laboratory there after. Meaning there were shifts working away at all hours. So Emilie and I couldn't have another late night walk.

During our next shift the following day, one of the other teams had found a vault door in the back of the laboratories. It was still fully closed, but energy readings were off the charts from what we were told. Eltyr was certain they found the place holding the object, but nothing short of another orbital strike would break into it. To add to that, I could see Emilie scheming something. Frequently on her comms device, presumably with Eastman and other cultists.

I pondered what she was up to, but I didn't need to wait long. Later in the evening she started messaging me, and let me in on this plan.

Eastman had confirmed the location of the object. So action is needed soon before Eltyr get their hands on it. So, some cultists on the night-shift will create a progressive cave-in early in the morning. It will start around that vault door. Small, and won't affect access to the door, but will evacuate the area. Then more cave-ins around entry points, isolating the door. Then that is when all hell would break loose.

Now where did I play into this? Well, Emilie gave me an ultimatum. Either I help her, and in turn she would help me to reach those rouge wielders. Or...

I stay back, let things play out, and she will let me walk this time. But I will be fair game the next time we meet.

However, there was a third option on the table. One that the Cultists don't know about. Brick gave me his contact. Surely, former STEEL members would have active contacts inside STEEL. How else to keep a watchful eye?

But that posed a problem, which was if my device was bugged by the cult. If it was and I reached out, I would be found out. So, I decided to study the comm logs.
