September 4th marks my headcanonised birthday for General Klump, so this drawing is a tribute to him where he is dressed in Afrikakorps uniform, not only as a reference to the Super Mario Bros Super Show episode "Raiders of the Lost Mushroom" in which King Koopa disguises himself and his followers in Afrikakorps uniform, but also a nod to my headcanon that Klump's ethnic background is part Afrikaner (South African of German origin), though interestingly, many German settlers in Africa made their mark on Namibia. This is basically Klump celebrating his birthday by embracing his heritage, so happy birthday to the Kremling general!

It's such a shame how the Donkey Kong series never did an Indiana Jones parody, in which the Kremlings go as German soldiers of the second World War, as Klump would go in this gear as a parody of one of the main villains of Raiders of the Lost Ark Colonel Herman Dietrich, while King K. Rool would likely be Rene Belloq, which is funny since while I consider Klump to be part Afrikaner, I see King K. Rool being mainly of French descent. Then again, because of how controversial that particular topic is in this day and age, such reference would not be allowed under any circumstances. The 1980s and 1990s were such different times.
