Ever since Bubba and company materialized in the Smash World, they encountered Mario with a Smoky Progg spirit in him, just like in the beginning of adventure mode in Smash. And this is the beginning of their adventure as well, so that would make a lot of logical sense. As Bubba, Dawn and Lucario (with the Flirty Lopunny spirit in her) start their adventure in the same region, Bubba sings a spoof of Sweet Victory and Dawn begins to worry about Bubba's genuine welfare and Lucario hugs and squeezes her beloved crush, and Bubba got a little annoyed by that, reassuring her that he'll be alright but Dawn talked some sense into Bubba by telling him that it's not wise to fight alone and that he needs back-up and Lucario agrees with her, and Bubba sighs and reluctantly agrees as well, and Lucario was like, "I knew you would agree to this, my sweet!" Then suddenly, they encountered Mario with a Smoky Progg spirit in him. They noticed him acting strangely and they knew for a fact that is not the real Mario. That's a fake! He has a Smoky Progg spirit in him and he may become Metal Mario at will. So they are being vigilant and planning to distract him. And so Bubba and Lucario caught Mario off guard and Mario never expected that until he was eventually defeated. And Mario almost wrecked them [Mario almost punched Bubba but Bubba bit his knuckles hard. Ouch! Mario almost kicked Lucario but Bubba was much faster (since dogs can outrun humans naturally) and he sent him away with his sword to stop him from kicking her]. That was so close! Too close! She almost had it but she didn't get it. Bubba saved her the pain. And imagine this: Lucario ran to Bubba, saying, "Aww, Bubba, my sweet, that was so sweet of you. You saved me from getting injured. How could I ever repay you?" And she hugged him and squeezed him and gave him doggy kisses as a thank you, and he laughed cutely and said, "You're welcome, sweetheart!" as he hugged her back, patting her back softly. Then she stopped kissing him and said, "You are an amazing fighter, baby. Nobody is as quick-witted and fast as you are. I wish I was like you." Bubba responds, "A dog instinctively reacts to situations, sweetie. They don't hesitate to get the job done. I just act when the situation calls for it." Lucario says, "You're doing well, Bubba." Bubba says, "Thanks!"

Oh, and if you are thinking about background music to match the situation, it is Stage Select (Pikmin 2), you know, the same background music where you originally fight Mario with the Smoky Progg Spirit in Smash Ultimate? https://youtu.be/zHZy2-OXqBo?si=ylhVQ_2cN9BsktAB That is the soundtrack that came to my mind when it comes to this fight. So when Mario shows up and Bubba and company braces themselves [battle begins], the song begins to play in the backgrounds. This anecdote is pretty much similar to encountering Mario with Smoky Progg Spirit in Adventure Mode or Spirit Board in the game, except Mario encountered me, Dawn and Lucario and this Stage Select (Pikmin 2) Soundtrack starts playing at that precise moment. Can you imagine that? Can you even hear it play in your mind as you read/look at this manga? That's exactly what is going on in this manga. ^_^

I added the tags "distraction" because Lucario and her crush Bubba are distracting Mario. When Mario tries to attack one of them, they do something to catch him off guard. And Mario never expects any of that. Get it? :D They distracted Mario! That's why I added the tags "distraction"

I added the tags "annoyed" because Bubba was singing a parody of "Sweet Victory", but Dawn got worried about him, and Lucario glomped her crush and Bubba got a little annoyed at first. Although he appreciated the affection, he's got a sword (he's a Mii Swordfighter), but Dawn has talked some sense into him stating that he needed backup, and Bubba reluctantly agreed with her and accepted the backup. So you see, Bubba was annoyed before reluctantly accepting backup. Get it? That's why I added the tags "annoyed".
