“Let’s get to work, then,” Natalie said, clearing off the table once she’d finished having lunch with her friend, leaving behind their cups of lemonade. They’d both be wanting to stay hydrated over the course of the afternoon. “I really appreciate you being willing to come and help me out, Seth.”
“It’s not a problem, really,” the Arcanine replied, stretching his arms as he got up from his chair. “I’m happy to have something to do today. I dunno why my college decided Tuesdays shouldn’t have classes scheduled. Why not give us a longer weekend and make us take Mondays off...?”
“The joys of the Kanto school system,” Natalie chuckled, patting the taller canine’s back as she walked by him. “You saw where I parked the moving truck, right?”
“Sure did, right at the bottom of the stairs,” Seth confirmed, looking around at the spacious apartment. “If I can be honest, I’m a little surprised that you’re moving out of here. It’s not a bad place you’ve got.”
Natalie flicked her six tails as she crouched, lifting up a box to relocate it towards the front door. Predictably, her friend stopped her partway, alleviating the Vulpix of the box and moving it himself. “It is a nice place,” she admitted, unable to help but think that the Arcanine looked like a professional moving company worker, clad in his white tanktop and baggy jeans. He certainly looked different from her—Natalie had chosen a yellow sundress with a blue bow that cinched her waist, maybe not the best garment to wear while in the middle of moving, but most of her other clothes had already been packed away. “It just feels...a little bit big, you know? Like, there’s so much space that I don’t need. I’d rather get a smaller place that costs less to rent.”
Seth grinned, his hazel eyes gleaming slyly as they always did right before he made a joke. “Well, I’d be surprised if it didn’t feel that way. Most places you go to are probably a little bit big for you.”
“Hey!” the Vulpix huffed and stomped a footpaw, certainly not helping the allegations that she was in fact quite small.
“Mm-hmm,” Seth chuckled, crouching in front of her so that they were at eye level—otherwise, the smaller vulpine would only have come up to his chest. “And those cute clothes you’ve been wearing lately certainly don’t sell the idea that you’re big. I thought you said that you were getting tired of others constantly mistaking you for being a grade schooler?”
Natalie pouted and crossed her arms, feeling her face growing warm as she looked to the side. “I-I am!” she said, hoping that Seth couldn’t tell that she was fibbing. Truthfully, she had been tired of being mistaken for a little kid...but lately, it had been making her feel funny. She couldn’t figure out exactly why she was starting not to mind it, but everyone just seemed to treat her nicer if they thought that she was younger than she really was. She was actually older than Seth, but he too had a tendency to treat her like she was the younger of them. Which, again, she realized that she didn’t mind at all. She didn’t know how good of a job she was doing at hiding those things from him, though. “I-I just...I mean, with the move and all, I’m limited to just a couple of outfits for now, and they happened to be just, sorta on the, um...”
“Cutesy side?” the Arcanine offered, ruffling the curly fur atop her head. “The kind that makes you look like a wee little Vulpix who’s not actually old enough to have her own place~?”
“I fed you AND got your favorite lemonade today, you know,” Natalie huffed, trying to fix her headfur. She couldn’t stop herself from grinning bashfully at the canine, though. “Come on, you can tease me later,” she said before she could stop herself, realizing that she wasn’t being as sarcastic as she’d been trying to be. “It’s supposed to rain later, so let’s try and get as much stuff loaded before then as we can.”
“Sounds good,” the Arcanine agreed, standing back up—but not before mussing up her hair once more. “In all seriousness though, I’m really excited to have a housemate for a little while until you find another place,” he continued as they both began moving boxes towards the front door. “It’ll be the first time I've lived with someone since moving out of my parents’ place. I hope you’ll be able to make yourself at home.”
“I’m sure I will—and I really appreciate you being willing to take me in for a while,” Natalie hummed, smiling at her friend. For all his teasing, the Arcanine was a really good person at heart. They’d gone on a number of dates before, and she hoped that this could continue now that they would be staying together for some time. They just hadn’t taken the next step in their relationship for fear of what others might assume about them. Being constantly mistaken for a little girl wasn’t completely without its demerits, and Natalie preferred to not let things get too awkward while they were in public, just for the sake of avoiding prying eyes. “I’ll head down and open up the van. We’ll focus on the boxes of stuff for now rather than the furniture, since most of that’s going in storage. Can you move the boxes over there in that hallway closer to the door? We can start bringing them down once I come back up.”
“You got it,” Seth replied, wagging his long, bushy tail as the two Pokémon stepped by each other to accomplish their tasks.
The Arcanine chuckled to himself once Natalie closed the door behind her. He always enjoyed pushing her buttons, in part because it was delightfully easy to do so. But she’d been acting more and more unusual as time went on. Her wardrobe had become increasingly more colorful and childish, going from drab adult wear to outfits that made her really look like a little kit. And she wasn’t reacting as angrily as she used to when others mistook her for a toddler in public. Nowadays, when they were together, she’d make these cute little noises and bashfully hide behind her friend until he explained her situation—how she was a fully grown Vulpix who just hadn’t gotten her paws on a Fire Stone yet. He didn’t mind speaking for her, though. It was very adorable, actually—he was just hoping to find more insight on what was going through her mind.
For now, he focused on the task at hand. He reached down to grab one of the opaque gray bins in the hallway—only to smother a mild curse as, upon trying to lift it, it almost slipped out of his hands because the lid was ajar. He went to fasten the lid into place...but something told him to look inside the container. Seth wasn’t normally one to pry into other people’s business, but...this bin looked like it came from her bedroom. One tiny little peek couldn’t hurt, right? It probably wasn’t anything that unusual. He moved the lid aside.
The Arcanine blinked several times at what he saw. He’d been expecting some sort of bedding or pillows, or maybe some clothing that belonged to his friend. Instead, there were several plastic packages neatly stowed inside the bin. He wiggled his ears curiously, his heart starting to thump as he realized what they might have been. Were they really...? But Natalie didn’t have any children...were they for younger relatives who visited from time to time? No, why would there be so many...? He grabbed one of the packages and lifted it up to confirm his suspicions.
Seth grinned from ear to ear as he found that he was, in fact, holding a sealed package of baby diapers. But not just any kind of baby diapers; these were size ‘eight’ diapers for girls, as the colorful design of the package proudly displayed this. It also noted that this size could fit Pokémon up to four feet tall, and had an extra stretchy rear entrance to accommodate tails of many sizes, shapes, or quantities. Rummaging through the rest of the bin, he found that it held a few more packs of baby diapers, along with some powder and wipe containers.
Seth couldn’t stop grinning as he stared at the package in his paws. It felt like he’d found the piece to a puzzle that he’d been trying to solve for the longest time. Not only was Natalie starting to accept being misidentified as a child, not only was she choosing a wardrobe that made her look like she was younger, and not only was she enjoying when he pointed all of this out to her, despite her grumpy rebuttals—she'd gone and bought diapers that were sized just right for her. It must’ve been on a whim, though, seeing as everything in the bin was still sealed.
The Arcanine flicked his ears as he heard Natalie climbing back up the stairs outside. He should put the diapers back and close up the bin, have this as ammunition in his back pocket for a later date and time.
But why do that...when he could make today far more interesting for both of them...?
“The truck’s open and ready to go,” Natalie announced as she stepped back into the apartment, rubbing her eyes as she closed the door again. “Phew, it’s bright out there. Maybe it won’t storm after all. Anyway, ready to start bringing some boxes down...?”
The Vulpix trailed off as she looked towards the table, seeing Seth standing beside it with a smug look on his face. She initially thought that he had done something silly, like drink as much lemonade as he’d been able to in the time she was gone, which was a fairly on-brand thing for him to do. But her heart dropped into her stomach as she saw what had been placed on the table. A package of baby diapers, along with containers of wipes and powder. He must’ve found them in one of the bins in the hallways! She wanted to kick herself for not remembering that she’d put them there.
“We can start bringing stuff down there in a few minutes,” the Arcanine replied, drumming his fingers against the package of diapers, creating a plasticky ‘thunk’ing noise. “First, I’m very curious about why you had a box full of these right outside your bedroom~”
“I-I can explain,” Natalie squeaked, wringing her hands. But as she went silent, a cocked eyebrow from her friend made it clear that her having an explanation was exactly what he wanted. She cleared her throat, trying to think up a clever excuse. “I-I, um...s-see, I’m a, uh, reseller! I found those at a thrift store and, y-you know, a work-from-home IT position is convenient but, it’s always nice to make extra money on the side, r-right?”
Seth snorted—the fib sounded terrible even to the Vulpix’s ears, and she knew that she wasn’t fooling him with that. “Aw, Nat, you’ve never been a very good liar. Can’t you tell me the truth? Aren’t we friends? There’s no need to be embarrassed...~”
“Th-the...truth...” Natalie stammered, rubbing her forearm. She couldn’t bear to meet Seth’s eyes, nor could she stop herself from fabricating a second lie—though it might’ve ended up being just as embarrassing as the actual truth. “I-I’ve been, um...a-a little stressed and, um, having b-bedwetting issues, so I...”
“Bedwetting?” echoed the Arcanine, stepping closer to his friend. “If that’s the case, then why were all the packages closed? That’s two strikes, little Pix—I don’t want you to lie to me again.”
Natalie gasped softly, not because she was upset by his words, but more so because they sent a quiver of excitement through her body. She swallowed as he crouched in front of her, bringing them to eye level once again, and gave her that warm, charming smile of his.
“No...I don’t think you need those diapers,” he said as she remained silent, though another quiver ran through her as he said that word. It sounded so strange, yet so alluring to have it said aloud. Diapers... “Something tells me...that you wanted them~” Seth wagged his tail, not needing a reply to know that he was correct. The truth was likely obvious in the Vulpix’s eyes. “My guess is that you’ve started enjoying it when people think you’re a kit so much that you went and got yourself clothes to make you look even littler. That way, everyone would just assume you’re a little tot instead of a grown, capable woman. But that wasn’t enough for you—you wanted to feel like you’re a toddler, and so you took the only next step that you could think of. But, unless I’m mistaken...you haven’t actually tried one on yet, have you?”
Natalie shivered, feeling unsteady on her feet as she listened to the Arcanine’s words. He flicked a digit against the hem of her dress as if to inquire what she had on underneath it, but was respectful enough not to look for himself. Her cheeks were hot, her ears flat as she looked aside. “Y-you’re gonna be mistaken for a Psychic-type if you keep that up,” she grumbled, hugging two of her tails against herself for comfort. He’d practically lined out all of the strange thoughts and actions that she’d been going through over the last several weeks—but he didn’t seem put off by it. In fact, the Arcanine was quite clearly enjoying himself, even if it just meant a chance to tease her some more. “I-I...dunno why I bought so many, but...I-I guess I've just...been t-too nervous to try them.” She grinned and shrugged, trying to brush everything aside. “Haha, I really am eccentric sometimes! How about we just, forget about all of this and get on with loading up the truck?”
Seth gasped, placing a hand over his heart in a rather sarcastic manner. “Goodness! You mean to tell me that you’re running around without a diaper on, young lady~?”
Natalie staggered, feeling as though she’d just taken a critical hit. Her jaw went slack as she stared at her friend, her face red-hot...not shying away as he took a quick peek under her dress after all. He clicked his tongue.
“Now, now, this won’t do at all,” he said, shaking his head as he let her dress back down. “We simply must do something about this, before you go and leave a puddle somewhere there shouldn’t be one!” Seth stood back upright, immediately making Natalie feel small beside him. Her heart hammered in her chest as he reached for the powder and pack of diapers still sitting on the table, and what he said next was something that she realized she’d been waiting to hear for a very long time. “Go and lay down on the couch for me, Nat. I’m going to put you in a diaper. And you’ll be wearing them for the rest of the day!”
Despite the initial rush of exuberance that she felt at Seth saying this, Natalie found herself rooted to the spot out of bashfulness and hesitance. Was this...okay? Maybe it was what she wanted, but was it a good thing to want it in the first place? She and Seth were close, but not quite to the point of being romantically involved. Could this sort of thing even be considered romantic?
Or maybe it was a disguised stepping stone towards reaching that point.
His hand rested on her shoulder, and she allowed him to lead her over to her sofa. It was on the smaller side, and much like herself, it looked quite tiny in such a large living room. Her legs quivered as she slowly lied down on it, feeling awkward as she folded her hands over her tummy, staring up at her friend. Even as he knelt beside her, she still had to look straight up to meet his eyes.
“Gosh, you really are little,” Seth hummed, echoing her thoughts as he gave her nose a gentle boop. He made sure she watched as he pulled the plastic apart on the package of diapers, opening it up enough so that he could pull one of the garments out of it. Natalie blushed hard as she stared at the mostly white baby diaper, decorated with cartoonish renditions of birdlike Pokemon—Starly, Fletchling, Pidgey, and Pidove adorned the diaper’s landing zone, while a number of pastel colored feathers scattered about the garment would serve as wetness indicators...that is, if she decided to use it for its intended purpose. “It doesn’t quite match your Fire-typing, but it is adorable. Here, you hold it for a moment,” Seth chuckled, pushing the diaper into her handpaws as he hiked up the skirt of her sundress. Natalie curled her toes as she felt the cushy fabric, hearing how it gently rustled in response to her touch. It was so soft, and it smelled nostalgic...she looked up at Seth, wondering if he could tell how red her face was under her fur. “You sure it’s okay for me to do this, right, Nat?” he asked, hesitating as he hooked a digit underneath the waistband of her panties.
The Vulpix bit her lip, nodding slowly. “I-I trust you,” she murmured, trying not to clutch the diaper too hard.
Seth nodded back and smiled warmly, giving her a reassuring pat on the tummy before tugging her panties off her legs, the tail snap easily coming undone as he did so. “You won’t be needing these for the rest of the day,” he informed her, tossing them aside with a wag of his tail. “These panties are much more fitting for someone your age,” he chuckled, taking the diaper back from her and unfolding it the rest of the way.
Natalie tried to control her trembling as her legs were lifted by the ankles...and when they were lowered again, she felt the softness of the baby diaper against her bottom.
“I'll skip using the wipes this time since it’s a first-time diapering, and not a change, per se,” Seth informed the Vulpix, as if trying to make small talk as he broke the seal on the bottle of baby powder. “Next time, though...well, we just might have to use some of those, huh?”
Natalie couldn’t formulate a response to his inquiry, knowing full well what he was implying. She felt incredibly tiny as she watched her friend sprinkle a large amount of baby powder all over her underfur and rump, much more so than she would’ve considered using. She knew it was to help prevent rashes and chafing, the latter of which she was plenty grateful for, but...would she really be able to bring herself to use the thing, with or without Seth nearby? Would he really agree to change her if that happened? Should it happen...?
The Vulpix didn’t have any answers to her own questions, so she fought to push them aside for now. There were plenty other things to keep her focus on—especially since her friend was in the process of folding the diaper up between her legs.
She curled her toes as she felt the softness of the diaper against her lower regions, shuddering as she realized just how bulky it was as it was held in place against her waist. It was a lot bigger than an average baby diaper—but of course, she had done research and measured herself to ensure she’d get a size that would fit her. Either way, she hadn’t thought it’d be as thick as it was. As the tapes were secured around her waist, her legs felt as though they were being forced apart by a cushiony pillow. She had no idea how she was going to walk properly with it on...
“There we are,” Seth hummed, looking incredibly pleased with himself as he patted the front of her diaper. “How’s that feel, little Pix?”
Natalie bit her lip, finding that she liked that nickname a little more than she probably should. She trembled as she stood upright, the bulk of the diaper indeed forcing her to take a slightly wider stance than normal. It also felt awkward and saggy. She rubbed the back of her neck. “It...feels pretty weird, honestly.”
“That’s just because we didn’t secure the rear tape, silly,” the Arcanine informed her, gently gripping her waist and spinning her around so that her rear was facing him. She felt him fidgeting around with the garment some more, looping a section of it around the base of her tails...until suddenly, as if by magic, the diaper was brought to fit snug against her body. Snugly...and perfectly. “How’s that now?”
“A-amazing!” she blurted out, quickly covering her muzzle with her handpaws and blushing hard. She flattened her ears as Seth chuckled. “I-I mean...i-it’s just...”
“That’s alright, Nat—you don’t need to be embarrassed about how you really feel,” the Arcanine informed her, making her feel a little better...until he went and gave her a smack on the rear! Well, maybe a smack was a little much—it was more like a firm pat, and it made her fresh diaper rustle quite loudly.
“H-hey!” she yelped indignantly, whirling around and covering her rump with her tails and tugging her dress down over it—which caused the front of her dress to ride up and put the crinkly garment on full display from that angle, therefore showing it off to her friend once more.
Seth simply chuckled, standing upright and transferring the open pack of diapers and bottle of powder back to the table. “It’s very easy to tell how you feel, you know. I don’t need to be a Psychic-type to figure that much out. We’ll just leave these right here for now—something tells me that we shouldn’t pack them up right away. It wouldn’t do us any good if the little Pix had an accident and we’ve already stored away her spare diapers, would it...?”
Natalie whined bashfully, trying to stop her tails from swishing as she smoothed down her dress, lamenting the fact that its short length made it so she couldn’t completely hide her diaper all the way around. She’d just have to be cautious about keeping her tails low. The thought of changing her outfit, however, didn’t even cross her mind. Her heart was racing. She was really wearing a diaper—and her closest friend not only knew about it, but he’d been the one to put it on her! It wasn’t at all how she’d been expecting it to unravel, but now that it had...it was just perfect.
What next, then...?
“I-I guess we should...s-start loading stuff into the t-truck, then,” she said, answering her own question aloud. Excited though she was, she found it quite difficult to talk to the Arcanine about the situation she now found herself in. She hoped that he’d understand...but at the same time, she really wanted him to tease her some more, even if she wouldn’t admit it out loud...
“Sure thing,” hummed Seth, effortlessly lifting up two boxes at once, balancing them in one hand as he pulled the door open with the other. “Just be sure to finish your lemonade, alright? It’s pretty hot out there, and even if we’re Fire-types, I don’t want either of us to overheat.”
“R-right,” agreed Natalie, blushing as the Arcanine turned to carry her things downstairs. She knew full well what he was trying to get her to do. Strapping her up in a diaper, then telling her to stay plenty hydrated...?
She stepped over to the table as if her paws were possessed with a mind of their own. She couldn’t just say no to the one looking out for her, right...? She picked up her half empty glass of lemonade and drank it all in one go, her heart racing as she knew the fate she was condemning herself to—a fact made all the more clear as her eyes flicked over the package of baby diapers once more, and the powder and wipes sitting next to them.
For now, though, she focused on moving her stuff downstairs. A little at a time, her living room was made much easier to maneuver through as her boxes and bins were transferred into the moving van. Things seemed slow going, but only for Natalie—while Seth could easily move two, sometimes three boxes at a time, Natalie’s smaller size made it so she could only take one container downstairs on every trip, or maybe two if they were very small and light. She’d foreseen this, and it had been one of the main reasons she’d called Seth for help. What she hadn’t foreseen, however, was having to wear a baby diaper the entire time.
It felt like she was trying to learn how to walk all over again. Her steps were wide and awkward, and she had to fight to stop herself from obviously waddling as she moved around. She just hoped that her apartment neighbors were minding their own business—especially whenever a cool breeze outside threatened to expose her crinkly secret to anyone watching nearby. Of course she’d chosen to wear a dress today, instead of a simple, sensible outfit like what Seth had gone with...
Still, she didn’t go and find herself a change of clothes. As shy as she was about wearing a diaper, as much as it made her heart race as she stepped outside with it on...she realized that she was hoping someone might catch a glance of it whenever her skirt rode up from the wind. She wanted someone to see it, to have their mind race with questions—did they see what they thought they’d just seen? Was that fully-grown Vulpix really wearing a diaper? Or...was she even a fully grown Vulpix? If she was wearing a baby diaper, that must’ve made her a baby, right...?
With these ideas and fantasies running rampant through her brain, much of the early afternoon passed by in a blur. Before she knew it, she and Seth were putting the last of the bins in the back of the moving van, leaving her apartment devoid of just about anything besides her furniture. Her furniture, and...
“That should do it for today,” Seth said, ruffling his friend’s headfur. He gestured to the pack of diapers still sitting on the table, alongside the changing supplies. “We worked awfully hard today. Good job staying hydrated! We’ll head over to my place and start unloading, and take care of your furniture tomorrow. Before we do that, though...how’s your diaper holding up, Nat?”
The Vulpix gulped, flattening her ears shyly. “I-it’s...o-okay, Seth...”
“Are you sure about that? Here, let me check, just to make sure...”
Natalie couldn’t do anything but stand there as he lifted up the front of her dress, finding that her diaper was, in fact, just as dry as she’d claimed it to be. She just hoped that he didn’t notice how rounded her lower belly had become—the Vulpix really needed to pee, but she hadn’t been able to bring herself to use her diaper yet. She wondered if she was going to hold it until she just had an accident without being able to control it...
“You’re clean after all!” Seth chuckled, letting go of her dress and gently tapping her cheek in an affectionate manner. “You just let me know once you need a change, alright? Let’s get over to my place—oh, and give me the keys to the truck, too. You’re much too little to drive!”
The Vulpix nodded bashfully as they stepped outside, and after locking up her apartment home—feeling the Arcanine’s handpaw brush along her crinkly bottom—she handed him the keys to the van. She blushed furiously as she realized he was carrying the diapers, wipes, and powder without putting them in a bag of any sort, and he didn’t look at all concerned about the possibility of being seen with them. Natalie would’ve been deathly embarrassed about carrying those things around...but Seth just looked like a concerned caretaker who was making sure that his little one had everything she needed.
Regardless, Natalie hurried downstairs, eager to be concealed in the safety of the moving van. She decided not to fuss as Seth opened the door for her, placed the changing supplies in the center console, and fastened her seatbelt for her. Natalie held the front of her diaper in the few seconds it took for the Arcanine to circle around to the driver’s side, biting her lip as she realized just how badly she needed to relieve herself. She’d never make it the forty minute drive to Seth’s place without taking a bathroom break...
She let go of herself as Seth got into the van, powering up the engine and turning the A/C on full blast, chasing away the hot air inside. “Ahh, much better,” he hummed, smiling at his friend. He leaned over and stroked her cheek, a fond expression on his face. “You know...I don’t mind sheltering you at my place for as long as you need me to. I’m really excited to have you over—especially with what’s happened today. I’ll happily let you live with me for as long as you need to.”
Natalie flicked an ear and smiled bashfully, curling her toes as she tried not to squirm in her seat. “Th-thanks, Seth. I really appreciate you.”
“Anything for you, little Pix,” the Arcanine chuckled. “Of course, we’ll need to get you a car seat. And I could always turn that spare guest room into a little nursery for you...that’s exactly what I’ll do, actually! And...we’ll work on a way to get you more comfortable about using your diapers, instead of holding it all afternoon~”
The Vulpix bit her lip, unable to stop her grin from becoming very wide even as her cheeks turned hot. She bent her knees towards each other as the van started moving, making it clear just how dire her straits were. But despite this nagging need, and the ensuing humiliation that she was surely going to feel upon using the baby diaper tucked between her legs...Natalie felt incredibly relaxed and happy. She was going to a place where she knew she’d be happy and accepted. It felt like a new chapter was starting in her life. It was going to be an interesting ride, but she couldn’t wait to see where it took her.
