The great wars of nature reserves. Chapter Four: Trap and escape.
Neither the Laird, nor the animals of farthing wood knew what Trey had in mind, after Laird's consultation with the red foxes earlier the other day. But that very evening the cross-eyed Trey walked through the deepest snow and is on his way to the mountains where Silver and his fox troops are there. But did not even know that he is not the only one going to the silver fox clan. Plucky stood on the pass and watched during the winter darkness, until he had to be replaced by one of his cousins.
He was on his way home to his family, until he stopped for a moment and spotted Trey at a reasonable distance. Plucky was quite taken aback to see Trey walking in the middle of the night. His brow furrowed in curiosity, wondering what the angry white stag was up to, really. But his thoughts were interrupted when the mole -Mossy and the rat- Spike suddenly appeared and asked him a little loudly. But Plucky quieted them down a bit and showed them why.
Mossy: "What on earth is he going to do, anyway?"
Plucky: "I don't know, Mossy. But I suspect he's up to something crazy, or worse."
Spike: "What do you think we should do, Plucky?"
Plucky: "We have to find out, of course. Jump on my back and we'll go shadow him."
After Plucky lay down and let Mossy and Spike climb up and sit on his back, they set off and stalk Trey very discreetly. It wasn't long before they came inside the silver fox's territory. Spike sat behind the mole and held him, while Mossy had his digging paws on Plucky's shoulders. The little animals looked a little worried on their faces and disliked intruding into the silver fox's territory. But Plucky is not in the least worried or nervous.
But with Trey he seemed a little cheerfully angry and walks calmly forward without any obstacles. But soon he arrived at the small peak of the mountains, right between the cliff and the big trees. There someone shouted at Trey to stop at once and he remained standing there. Trey frowned in bewilderment. But soon the two different foxes appear. One blue and one gray. There were two deputies - Blaze and Tyran.
Tyran: "Who are you and how dare you go into our territory?!"
Trey: "You shouldn't care about that, you weasel-foxes!!! I'm here to meet your supreme leader - Silver, and nothing else!"
At the appropriate distance, Plucky stopped. He let his friends step off his back, then they carefully sneaked forward, until their heads appeared behind the stone and looked and listened very carefully to their noisy conversation.
Blaze: "Our master is unfortunately busy! Turn around and disappear right now!"
Trey: "I'll leave as I please and when I please, weasel-foxes!"
Tyran: "You really say so, big mouth!"
Trey: "I'm here to deal with him and his bodyguard, who murdered my sister!"
Blaze: "Oh yeah, so what?"
Trey: "His bodyguard called himself... the beast!"
Plucky's, Spike's and Mossy's eyes widened in horror and thought "Oho!", even Tyran and Blaze stared at each other in surprise and wondered how the angry white stag could know that. But then suddenly the big and old silver fox with a pair of black ears, a black spot on his right cheek, and some scars on his face appeared from the top of the hill, then calmly walked forward and stood between his deputies and said in a hard and icy voice.
Silver: "Then you're the right deer in the wrong place! I'm Silver, Supreme Leader of the Silver Fox Clan! And you're a wise Trey? Former leader of the herd, and now vice-leader, aren't you?"
Trey: "Yes, I am!"
Silver: "How come you happened to know about me and the beast's existence, anyway?"
Trey: "All I know is that you're planning to attack Laird, the rest of my herd! Just to take over White Deer Park at any cost, you silvery weasel-fox!"
Silver was a little puzzled by what Trey was saying and began to suspect that Trey knew something about his and Tyran's plans. Even Plucky now began to realize that Trey had gone too far. But he could see what Silver looked like and noticed that he was a really evil silver fox. And the fact is Silvia is absolutely right. But then Silver asked with a very serious question.
Silver: "But how exactly can you know about our plans, then? You can't know all of those details anyway?"
Trey: "Yes, there is! The red foxes who protect their animal friends in their farthing country, probably know about your plans! Especially a red-brown fox with blue eyes!"
Then Silver's eyes widened really big and could hardly believe it in his ears. His memory from the past returned to the time when he and his fox troop terrorized all the red foxes, except for one red-brown fox that managed to escape a little later. And in recent times Swift has been messing with Silver and his silver fox clan. But then his memory from the past disappeared and said in a very stern and icy voice.
Silver: "Swift..!"
Plucky frowned in both disappointment and betrayal. But then Mossy notices something moving on the large tree branch, right above Trey and the three silver foxes. Mossy was scared to see what it was and nudged Spike's shoulder and pointed at him. Spikes was also scared to death and gasped really hard and was about to scream in pure panic, but held his mouth with his hands.
Plucky: "What is that?"
Spike: "L-l-l-look there on the tree branch...!"
Spike stammered, as Plucky looked up, he was also completely horrified to see what it was. Up on the tree branch, stands a giant cat that is very huge and has golden brown fur and lots of spots all over its body. When the Beast turned his head, his true face is revealed, with one blue look on his right cheek and one bright look on his left cheek. Both Plucky and his two friends quickly ducked behind the rock.
Mossy: "That must be the one Silvia was talking about."
Plucky: "Exactly, Mossy. And now I'm starting to understand who that beast is."
Spike: "What kind of beast is that, anyway?"
Plucky: "I'd think that's some kind of Lynx. Because it's a cross between a regular lynx and a big cat."
Mossy: "But how can that be so big?"
Plucky: "I don't know, Mossy. But I've heard of lynx escaping from some kind of zoo many winters ago and the humans military has hunting this one very long."
Spike: "How do you know?"
Plucky: "Perry explained everything to me and how it all came about. Especially that time when I ran away from home and the military was hunting the foxes too."
Spike: "And now Trey has betrayed and ruined everything."
Plucky: "Maybe not. If you two can just get out of here, maybe you can tell Grandpa everything."
Mossy: "But what about you?"
Plucky: "I'll try to talk them and into surrendering."
Spike: "But you could get killed!"
Plucky: "I know! But I have no choice. If I can't get out of here, you'll have to tell Swift that I'm handing over the leadership to him. My grandpa will probably understand after this."
Mossy: "Be careful... Sob!"
Mossy sobbed, very proud and unhappy at the same time. But at Trey and the three silver foxes, they continued with their noisy conversation.
Trey: "Now it's your turn to pay for my sister's life, you silver weasel-foxes!"
Silver: "Be cocky and cheeky enough Trey! You can never defeat me as easily as you think!"
Trey: "Of course I can! You're just three lonely silver weasel-foxes who think you can outsmart and destroy me!"
Silver: "Who said the three of us are alone, huh? Hahaha..."
Silver laughed the most mocking laugh he can. Even Tyran and Blaze laughed at the same time. Trey was very puzzled at first, but when Plucky just appeared from the rock, he quickly discovered that the Beast was ready and about to jump. Plucky realized that he had to act quickly.
Plucky: "TREY!!! WATCH OUT!!!"
Trey looked behind his shoulder and to his surprise he saw how the beast took action and jumped down from the tree branch and held his outstretched front legs with deadly claws. Trey realized that he was in an ambush and was a real donkey. He acted quickly and jumped to the side very quickly, which made the beast miss him, but one of the beast's front paws somehow managed to scratch through Trey's skin.
Trey screamed in pain and quickly fell to the snowy ground. But that wasn't all. His thrown sideways caused him to slide too far towards the edge. And in just a few seconds later, he fell down a cliff and disappeared into the darkness, until the sounds of a huge "Splash" were heard, meaning he fell into the river. Both the silver foxes and the Beast looked out the cliff first, until their gazes were directed at Plucky and his two friends. Plucky turned his gaze to Mossy and Spike and screamed.
Plucky: "Run, quick!"
But suddenly someone hit Plucky really hard and made him fall into the snow. And when Spike and Mossy see who did it, they are terrified to meet the Tyran's bodyguard, the big wolf. His predatory eyes stare at the small animals and lick themselves ferociously.
The wolf: "Which of you two wants to be mine and the beast's breakfast?"
Both Mossy and Spike turn around quickly and plan to run away. But luckily, Whistler appears from nowhere and dodges the wolf before he can catch them. Whistler picks up Mossy with his long beak, while Spike quickly jumps onto his back and flies away. All five watch as they disappear into the dark sky. Silver is of course furious at first.
Silver: "Damn! That damned grey heron managed to save the two little animals from farthing land. But what does it matter, anyway? At least we've eliminated a stag and that's just the beginning. And now we have their leader as a prisoner. And very soon the old fox of farthing wood will understand that we have his grandson in our power, after I've met him."
Then they ended with all five animals from the silver fox clan laughing the most evil laugh they can, while Plucky lay perfectly still on the snowfield, with a little blood dripping from his forehead onto the snow and completely knocked out by the big wolf's paw. But how will poor Plucky get out of his predicament? You'll all find out next time.
