A brief explanation of the Anthros in Urasia from the DDF comic.
I introduced this specifically because I don't like it when racism develops among the Anthros. If only foxes can reproduce with foxes, it will eventually become clear that there will be a master race and that mixed breeds will be treated like dirt because they don't have pure genes.
(Not to mention what the creatures would all look like if they had been popping around the world for many years.
There would simply be no more foxes, cats, or lions because a mixed-breed race would develop. Similar to street dogs, where a certain type manifests itself.
And if they could only have children with their own kind, they would only find them attractive, and there would be no sex outside the anthro-species. Which would be boring.
