In twenty five years of living in England I have only had two encounters with wild deer. One was a lone muntjack (the size of an alsatian at a push) that I stumbled upon down a tiny park surrounded by town and roads; It panicked and bolted in the wrong direction, cornering itself against a wrought iron fence that stopped kids from running into the immediately ajacent lorry parking and railway lines. It was literally less than a meter away. The other occasion was part of a conservation trip to one of my lecturer's patches of woodland; by walking around the little circular trail we accidentally corralled them into a corner of the wood and they were left with no option but to stampede past us :/ I'm not even from the city or anything either; I've had a pretty wildlife-rich childhood. I've had a rabbit kit jump onto my boot and have been up close to wild fox cubs and badgers.
However, when I visited Colorado; I saw white-tailed deer pretty much every day. They walked around bold as brass, not caring how close you were!
You guys really are lucky to still have some wilderness and big wildlife left. We used to have bears and wolves too; every landmass has edges and is slowly filling up with people. Now our biggest wild animals are deer species; though theres not many of them.
This is a really powerful idea. Or at least it is to me.

I cannot thank you enough for doing this and posting that link. I NEVER would have seen this if it were not for you. I have worked as anature guide on whale watching boats and cruise ships since 1984. I even spent 7 years as a Dolphin trainer. This hit hard, really hard and I wish other would see this. I am posting that link in my journal as soon as I finish writing thing.

thank you

thank you
we sure did. i'm stuck in cities, where i don't belong, and i don't mean that as anything against those who like them, because buses don't stop in the country like buses and even trains did when i was growing up.
yes i could get another license and indenture myself to a car. but i i've no wish to contribute to the kind of politics the interest on car loans subsidizes.
