VIDEO TO DEMONSTRATE NFC:

Everyone seems to ask about these chips... and I figured I'd better explain it with an infographic of the sorts. Aside from having some good artwork... you get some great tech too.
I love technology... specifically technology that promotes better communication. NFC is pretty old tech, but we're seeing more use in consumer space.
I'm pretty sure no-one else is doing this, putting NFC into badges, but it offers a new way to interact with people. New phones and devices are being released which have NFC writing and reading capabilities.
See this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o.....abled_handsets
We might see an iPhone 5 with NFC which will be quite beneficial to get NFC adopted.
Simply put, you can program your badge to launch your FA, Twitter or any other webpage... or you can program them to contain your contact information so that way you can keep in touch at a con. This technology far exceeds the capabilities of QR Codes.. you don't have to take pictures... or get an app. Your phone, should it have NFC Tech, will automatically react with the NFC chip in the badge.
These badges can be programmed around 100 times or so, and I've included two different chips:
1x MIFARE ULTRALIGHT - 46bytes (52MM X 15.5MM) - Use for Shortened URLS (BIT.LY Links to Website)
1x MIFARE CLASSIC - 742bytes (35MM X 35MM) - Stores Quite a bit of Information (vCARDS, URLS, URIS)
Both hold varying amounts of information. I put the small chip around the badge name for launching URLs... and the larger near the center of the abdominal region. (Sorry Mark! I didn't have these small ones when I made your badge at AC!) This means your badge can have two different actions depending on where you place your phone or device.
I'm currently not taking any more badge orders. But I will maintain the $30 price for the rest of the year. I think they're worth more than $30.. since you do get a rendered badge (no flat colors).. no cut off arms... and they're pretty reasonably detailed.
If you would like to be locked in for a $30 price.. note me or somethin so I can kind of generate a list. I have a few that I'm working through right now, and when I finish those up I will open up again.
For those I've completed, I will be contacting you about mailing and pre-programming options. If you already have a badge ordered with me, specify when you need it by if there's a con coming up in the next month or so, that way I can prioritize and ship it out ASAP. Otherwise I will get them done in the order I have them written down.
Using
's badge: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8402307/ , as an example.
I should mention.. these badges are like.. HUGE. Huskion's for example... is 21.5" by 27.5" ... printed at 24% of actual size.

There are NFC Devices out there... such as certain Android Phones! The OS has built in support for NFC reading and writing. When you want to write information to a NFC tag, you specify the info you want to write and the application will ask you to hover the phone over the tag. At this point the tag is programmed. I might make a video if people are still confused.
Hahah. I'd rather see this get adopted over those pesky QR codes. From a Usability and Design standpoint this just works better since the phone just responds to whatever's on the tags no apps and taking pictures. It's a small gamble... but as the industry and phones created have the tech... these will be pretty nice! They're cheap too.. at like $1 a tag.
I'm hoping that this technology takes off since the experience is so much more seamless and less awkward than using QR codes. Google is backing it, but I don't think it'll be more mainstream until Apple touches it (hopefully with iPhone 5).
Thanks though! I want to always converge technology with everything I create with the objective of creating a better user experience.

You probably want to try http://www.tagstand.com/ --- this is where I got my Tags. There are quite a few types and varieties of NFC Tags so read up on them! If you have questions, just ask!
I'm surprised Nokia owns Symbian, even though they also have MeeGo [alongside with Linux Foundation, Intel, Nokia, Novell, AMD], and Maemo...
I wonder if Samsung Bada will have support
