Alexander Hale, a first-generation Chinese-American analyst, is stuck downstairs at his top-secret spy agency, The Orphanage. But when he suspects he might be the mole they're hunting for, he realizes that his eyes and ears have been hacked. Keeping the fiction alive that he's unaware of the hack, he works with his agency to hunt those responsible, even as The Orphanage builds a fake world around him, assigning him a new "girlfriend," promoting him to a new dangerous mission and sending him down a rabbit hole where it's not clear what's real and what's fake in his own life. When the lines begin to blur, Alexander is forced to take control of his own destiny and discover where his true allegiance lies.

2.5/5
Between headlining Marvel’s Shang-Chi and playing a Ken in Barbie, Canadian actor Simu Liu has more than proven his versatility. Nonetheless, he can’t find that much to distinguish this science-fiction thriller... Go to Full Review

It satisfies our spy TV jones, and Liu passes the test as a dynamic leading man. Go to Full Review
Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Dec 29
The show is well cast. While the characters on paper are pretty much types, each actor projects the essence of the part, adding enough extra personality to suggest a real person. Go to Full Review

A subtle, smart cyberpunk thriller with a terrific premise. Go to Full Review

It's tough to come up with a better premise than the twist on the double agent spy story that opens this series, but the show mostly feels like it's vamping until it gets to the good parts. Go to Full Review

The Simu Liu-led techno-espionage thriller (in the words of executive producer James Wan) is slow and smart in equal measure, despite nary a mention of quantum mechanics Go to Full Review

Barcarie M @Mitchthagod 6h A SPY THRILLER THAT ACTUALLY MADE ME PUT DOWN MY PHONE If The Truman Show and Jason Bourne had a terrifying baby raised by Reddit, it would look exactly like Peacock’s The Copenhagen Test. Simu Liu plays a spy whose brain is hacked so enemies see through his eyes. It’s the kind of nightmare scenario that makes me want to throw my smart fridge out the window. Liu does a solid job balancing "action hero" with "guy who is rightfully freaking out," but the real MVP is Sinclair Daniel as Parker. She carries the emotional weight while Alexander is busy being a human GoPro. The writing is sharp. The twist with the mentor? I haven't felt that betrayed since I found out Santa isn't real. It elevates a standard tech-thriller into a genuine tragedy. The ending screams "Season 2 bait," but for a guy who knows a little bit about a lot, this is worth your weekend. Just maybe don’t watch it right before bed. See more Satchmo M @Satch414 1d Started with some cheesy lines but the more in the show it actually became pretty cool. Only the lady imagining alexander his thoughts was a little to easily written. Not really a backbone. But the overal show was very entertaining. 8. See more Steve M @SteveM9701 1d I liked it regardless of some of the things that didn’t make sense (which also happen in a lot of other shows). I hope they can do a season 2. I would definitely watch it. See more Jenna G @NinjaMomGoin 1d Binged the whole thing in one day See more Lane M 1d Best series I have seen in awhile, EXCELLENT ! See more Joseph R @Joerod5 2d Started watching the show because Melissa Barrera is in it. Went in blind wasn’t expecting anything and I was honestly impressed. I’m not yet finished but so far I really like it, already started to introduce the show to some friends and family. The acting is pretty good, the pacing of each episode is good too. Ain’t mad at it tbh. See more Read all reviews
