Firmata is a generic protocol for communicating with microcontrollers from software on a host computer. It is intended to work with any host computer software package. There are implementations for multiple microcontrollers and host software packages.

Django REST framework is a powerful and flexible toolkit for building Web APIs. Some reasons you might want to use REST framework: The Web browsable API is a huge usability win for your developers. Authentication policies including packages for OAuth1a and OAuth2. Serialization that supports both ORM and non-ORM data sources. Customizable all the way down - just use regular function-based views if you don't need the more powerful features. Extensive documentation, and great community support. Used and trusted by internationally recognised companies including Mozilla, Red Hat, Heroku, and Eventbrite. REST framework is a collaboratively funded project. If you use REST framework commercially we strongly encourage you to invest in its continued development by signing up for a paid plan.

HumbleUI is a lightweight, declarative, and composable UI framework, likely intended for building graphical user interfaces in a minimal, modular way. It emphasizes ease of use, customization, and modular components. (Note: while there is a repository, I did not find a detailed README in my search to fully confirm all capabilities.) Electron is a great landmark. Normal shortcuts, icon, its own window, file system access, notifications, OS integrations. Write once, run everywhere is no longer rejected by users. Performant enough not to noticeably lag.

You assemble *blocks* in your django template, with each block wired to a tastypie resource, which in turn is mapped to a django model. Each *block* will reside in a dijit ContentPane which you must define in your template. You have a choice of 2 layouts for each *block*, Form or Grid based. Form displays a single record in either a 1, 2 or 3 column layout while Grid displays many rows in a spreadsheet like grid. You can perform edits in place on fields in both layouts. You can define the master-detail relationship between the *blocks* and enblok will automatically display the related detail *block* rows as the user navigates the master *block*'s rows. You get for free the default *CRUD* functionality for each block, together with Search. You are not limited to just a 2 level master-detail relationship, in fact enblok can support n-th level relationships but we do not advise you to go beyond 3. Wooey is a simple web interface to run command line Python scripts. Think of it as an easy way to get your scripts up on the web for routine data analysis, file processing, or anything else. The project was inspired by how simply and powerfully sandman could expose users to a database and by how Gooey turns ArgumentParser-based command-line scripts into WxWidgets GUIs. Originally two separate projects (Django-based djangui by Chris Mitchell and Flask-based Wooey by Martin Fitzpatrick) it has been merged to combine our efforts. Enable the easy wrapping of any program in simple python instead of having to use language specific to existing tools such as Galaxy. Enable fellow lab members with no command line experience to utilize python scripts. Autodocument workflows for data analysis (simple model saving).
