Hi,
I have tried installing phpopenchat v 2.3.1 on Windows
XP using Apache 2.0.43 with PHP 4.3.1. All seems to
go well, the Database connection seems to work,
everything seems find until I login to chat. The input.php
frame displays the following:
Can't find any data in table 'channels' for channel
name 'steed'. The PHP return code is: 0 The value of
database link identifyer is: Resource id #8
Could you please give me some ideas of what I may
have done wrong and/or some info on how to resolve this
problem.
Thanks,
Steed.

Same problem here with win2k prof, Apache/2.0.43 (Win32)
PHP/4.4.0-dev
The error I get into the frame where input.php should be is
exactly the same as steed@steelsteed.net posted.

I have managed to get the latest beta build to work on my
system, also WinXP Professional with Apache 1.3.7, PHP
4.3.2, MySQL Server 3.23 latest build.
You don't mention what database server you are using?
A couple of things to check, first download MySQL Front 2.5
(search google) or use PHPMyAdmin and check if there is any
data in the tables, I created a new database called openchat
and then I used the SQL page to copy and paste SQL script
provided in the PHPOpenChat distribution - the file called
db.schema.
Open db.schema in notepad and copy and paste the entire
text into the SQL Query page in either MySQL Front or
PHPMyAdmin and hit go to execute the scirpt, this will
populate the database (make sure you have selected the
database first, you wouldn't want to add tables to another
database!).
The only reason I can think you have this problem is because
you did not populate the database, I created an empty
database and tried to run PHPOpenChat and I got the same
error as you.
Make sure your PHP.INI file is setup correctly, if your not sure
follow the install document provided in the distribution, if you
need working examples of php.ini and httpd.conf (in your conf
folder in the apache webserver folder) then email me at
info@rnasolutions.co.uk and I will mail you the files I use on
my WinXP machine - all you need to do is to find-replace any
drive letters such as d:\ and d:/ to your correct path e.g. if
apache is in C:\Program Files\....\apache then you would
replace all instances if d:/ and d:\ to c:/ and c:\, same with
the php.ini file.
Hope this helps,
Godzilla
