The comheresive guide about how to interpret Squeezer 0.5 report has been released. The guide describes the tables and the positions of Squeezer's report as well as discuss the main Squid's traffic categories and explains the meaning of Squeezer's measures. The guide in PDF format belongs to the 0.5 release.
Squeezer is a multi-dimensional Squid's log analyzer program. It digs the data from log and provides highly transformed values showing own Squid's performance as well as the performance in various relations in cache mesh.
The 0.5 version of Squid performance optimizer Squeezer has been released. There are few, but useful changes:
- updated statistics logic,
- added local Squid's memory and disk performance,
- added performance gain measures.
Performance gain tell you how much faster or slower fetching the web objects is thanks to using whole web hierarchy, local Squid, peers or going through parents. There is also performance gain for memory hits telling you how efficient you RAM cache is. The performance gain considers average speed and traffic volume of any traffic category and its influence at whole speed fetching.... read more
This version contains new report format, which is more readable and more understeable. No changes in program logic. More changes to come.
Squeezer is the multi-dimensional log analyzer for Squid. It is destined to measure and present performace in various relations (direct fetches vs. cache hierarchy, different siblings, local cache vs. direct and hierarchy traffic).
The mailing list for users of Squeezer - Squid's Optimizer script - has just been started. This is destined for discussing problems, concepts and ideas about using Squeezer in Squid's tuning and optimization. The list is hosted by Sourceforge (as Squeezer project):

The competely rewritten Squeezer has been released.
You can watch the transfer speed from your web cache - Squid, it's parents and siblings, direct fetches and more... you could easily find out what is speeding up your transfer speed and what slows it down.
The features from old version (released in 1999) have been kept. The one was added: diagnostics messages. They should help users easily find the source of the problems.
The look of report has been improved. The programming style is now more clear, so it could help find bugs and improve code, e.g. adding new features.
