At its heart, TERRESTE is a sandbox skirmish system. Lean enough for quick battles, yet deep enough to sustain entire campaigns. The rules are designed for tactical simplicity with strategic weight: fast-moving turns, clean mechanics, and consequences that carry forward. The novel "asynchronous" turn structure keeps all players involved and is the key to multiplayer battles without any additional rules. Luck, pressed troops, and the scars of battle all matter.

TERRESTE is built with accessibility in mind. You don’t need to buy armies of expensive minis. Instead, every official character comes as a foldable paper token - printable, stable, double-sided, and era-specific. Add in a Custom Character Builder Workflow that gives you the ability to “Terrestify” your own minis, and you’ve got a system that’s as modular and DIY as it is immersive. 


Note: although designed to be played with LEGO minifigures, players can use any minis, counters or tokens available to them.


And it doesn’t stop with battles. The Volumes of the Encyclopædia Terrestica give you the full arc of the universe. Whether you’re here for the tactics, the worldbuilding, or both, TERRESTE offers a complete ecosystem where game and story are inseparable.

LORE

The saga begins on a single inhabited world in a medieval framework, where magic exists and technology is only just making an appearance. Over time, the Terrestans develop advanced science and spaceflight, although their path is one of clockworks and black powder. Their ambition ultimately leads to the destruction of their star and home world alike. The remaining planets and moons drift through space as a loosely bound cluster, sustained by an artificial yet waning dwarf star.

Re-incarnation

 

A core concept of this universe is Re-incarnation: certain individuals reappear across multiple Ages, retaining memories and emotional echoes from their past lives. These recurring personas create long-running tensions, shifting allegiances, and tangled psychological arcs that span centuries.

The Four Ages

First Age

 

“STRONGHOLD”

 

A feudal age of knights, witches, and early science. Couronne begins its imperialist rise by claiming the neutral town of Glandèves, sparking war with Trefoil.

 

Wizards argue over whether to intervene. Tensions explode when black powder is invented.

Second Age

 

“WORLD AT WAR”

 

Sigils become nation-states, ruled by aristocrats and fuelled by conquest. With the widespread use of black powder, wars escalate with brutal intensity.

 

Trefoil and Chevronne align secretly to form a Naturalist Enclave; a proto-democracy of scientists, who lay the foundation for future exploration.

Third Age

 

“FIRST STEPS”

 

Spaceflight begins. Slingshot Gates and Magnetic Drives connect distant moons. Jehanne, a gas giant, is ignited into a micro-star to terraform its moons.

 

But just as colonization spreads, a cosmic cataclysm destroys the star and inner planets. Over 90% of all Terrestans perish.

Fourth Age

 

“SPACE AGE”

 

The survivors cling to moons around two planets,  now orbiting each other in deep space. Reeling from their loss, the Naturalists collapse and the Sigils reform.

 

The Terrestans slowly uncover the truth about the an alien race whose home world was Jehanne…

The Sigils

The population is divided among four major factions (Sigils) and two minor ones, each with distinct values, aesthetics, and ideologies. From Couronne’s centralist expansionism to the Trefoil’s focus on individual justice, these Sigils influence culture, technology, and conflict throughout every Age. The presence of alien life - particularly a sentient species from the gas giant Jehanne - further complicates Terreste’s fate in the Fourth Age.
