Sooooo @a-weirdo-works brought my attention to another manga character from Megaman X named Teal. I liked her story and design enough to try including her in my Family Friend au.
Here’s what I came up with.
Now in the manga, she’s Storm Eagle’s girlfriend, so initially I wanted to try using colors that contrasted his. So I put orange and yellow. I thought it would set Teal apart from just being Eagle’s girlfriend but still tie them together in some way, plus there are literally no orange people in Megaman X so she’d look even more recognizable.
I don’t hate the orange color palette but I thought it’d be weird if I didn’t at least try to stay true to her namesake which is why you’re seeing two pictures. Let me know which one you prefer, I’m having trouble deciding, just please remember to be respectful.
When it comes to Teal’s story in my au, honestly she probably won’t be a main character. Don’t worry, she won’t die like in the manga and is living her best life with her bird boyfriend. I know we don’t get much in terms of personality since Teal was a very minor character, but I do have an idea for her that I’d like to share with you today.
Since Storm Eagle has been given the moniker of the “Prince of the Skies” before it just makes sense to me that he’d want to find a princess to call his own.
Teal would then have the best traits of some of the most well known Disney princesses. She’s intelligent and open-minded like Belle, protective and brave like Mulan, hard working but still resilient and inherently kindhearted no matter what like Tiana and Cinderella. Teal has a strong tie to the people she considers family and remains curious about the world, a lot like Merida, Rapunzel, and even Ariel.
Teal also has the unique quirk of somehow attracting all kinds of animals. Birds, mice, cats, dogs, horses, lizards, fish, you name it, Teal has probably been seen petting it at some point or another. She also has an absolutely stunning singing voice, which might’ve been the thing that got Storm Eagle’s attention in the first place.
Ultimately though, Eagle fell in love with Teal because of her genuine kindness towards all creatures. Her empathy and sincerity can make the difference between a reploid turning themselves in before being labeled a dangerous Maverick and receiving the help they deserve or apprehending the Maverick by force. Teal and X get along great because of this and the two have had some the largest amount of reploids successfully talked down from causing more harm to themselves or others. They both bond a lot over figuring out more peaceful methods to deescalate heated situations with Mavericks.
But that’s her friendship with X, Zero’s a different story. He’s actually saved Teal’s life during one of his earliest missions as a Maverick Hunter, but it was a close one. I’m pulling from the manga here because Teal was held hostage by a Maverick and Storm Eagle did end up relying on Zero to keep her safe. The thing that differs was Zero pulling Teal back from falling out of the plane despite his injuries and preventing her death. This one act is what cemented Zero as a dependable friend to Storm Eagle and the two remained friends long after Eagle took a step back from Maverick Hunting. It was through this connection that got reploids like Storm Owl and Overdrive Ostrich to stand down and allow X to help/speak to them.
I’ll leave it at that for now, let me know what y'all thought about my version of Teal. I like her design right now but to be honest, it’s probably gonna change in the future. I wanna dive into the princess theme even more but still have her be recognizable as a Megaman character.

AND OSTRICH AND OWL SURVIVED (which, Ostrich surviving I feel weird about, but then again, in my AU, inspired by an AU of X joining the pirate crew by @absolutely-normal-about-x, in which I made my own based off of it/the same premise, a lot of chars survive, like Necrobat and 80% of the Repliforce bosses). BUT YEAH THIS ROCKS!!!
Love me a character that goes “Don’t just internalize your trauma. Externalize it. Make your trauma everyone else’s problem. Murder some guys about it maybe. And whatever you do, never ever stop being interpersonally unpleasant to be around.”
It’s always funny to me when people give their blorbos all the same “correct” far left political views which while I understand the urge to make these blorbos as progressive as possible as political commentary, there are some characters that I feel in my bones are 100% centrist, pro-ai, pro-capitalism or absolutely refuse to vote and its supported by the source material. As a narrative tool these features are still great for being political commentary, even if the character never changes.
Web’s a libertarian and pro equality like me but he’s also extreme AF, a radical misanthrope, and pro war crime.
