I know people are pissed Mike doesn’t say I love you to Eleven in the Void, but I think they’re missing the point. Mike doesn’t have to say I love you. Neither does Eleven. They both know how the other feels. Stranger Things is a love letter to the 80s and the way characters express their feelings is inline with those movies. Most famously, Han and Leia’s I love you/I know. Characters not telling each other everything, but their loved ones knowing them and understanding them anyway is the entire point of the show. Will Byers was supposed to be dead. They found a body. Joyce believed he was alive. She knew she had to find him. That is the start of the entire show and it’s also the ending. When you really love someone it doesn’t matter where they are, you are connected to them. Mike believes Eleven is alive. He also knows he has to find her. It doesn’t matter if no one else believes, he does because he loves her.

On todays episode of Mileven depression: When he’s telling the story of his friends on how he thinks their lives will be after school, he gives everyone a happy ending but himself because his happy ending is with her and he can’t have one without her. (I’m so sorry)

Guys Mike not being able to say “i love you” to El in her last moments is NOT proof he doesn’t love her. He’s made it explicitly clear his biggest fear is and has always been losing her, he’s also never openly said “i love you” to anyone besides El. While i do think he should’ve its not proof he doesnt love her. Mike Wheeler has ALWAYS been someone who shows love rather than verbalizes it. And he does this with everyone. He’d rather hug his mom and sisters than say he loves them, jumping off a literal cliff for Dustin, sticking by Lucas throughout s3, make fun of Max when waking up from a coma, staying with Will in s2, standing by Els side and all her choices is his way of showing that. None of yall seem to find any doubt he loves the rest of them so why does it only matter towards the one person he actually said it too? Like say whatever yall want about Mike Wheeler but he loved El till the end.

It’s literally crazy the fact he can feel her, even when he don’t see her. It’s partly why I believe in his theory about El survived. Yes, he could be in deep denial. But the fact he always canonically feel her during the entire show give me hope. And with that fact in mind, the idea of the Duffer brothers about El & Mike never see each other again if she is alive is bullshit. Because it is precisely partly due to this ability that they have always found their way back to each other. They are like a single being split in two.
