top 5 favorite and top 5 least favorite Minecraft mobs and would you want to see Pearl drawn as them
Five favorite:
1.) Sniffers. I don’t care that they’re not useful. I don’t care they’re hard to get. I’m obsessed with them. When they first came out I was blown away by how cute they are. THEY SPLOOT. On any world I end up with a sniffer enclosure with like 20 of them that I just stare at. I love sniffer Pearl. I’ve seen it a few times, it’s always great. I feel they’re a great mob for her, with their vibrant colors and their association with plant life. I’m shocked more people aren’t drawing her as a sniffer honestly.
2.) Skeleton horses. Again like the sniffer this mostly for aesthetic reasons. I like collecting them on worlds. I don’t know how someone would draw her as a skeleton horse? Like I’ve seen her drawn as a horse during Past Life, but I don’t know how you would draw her as a skeleton horse. I’d like to see someone try though.
3.) Wolves. Friends!!! They are my friends!!! Cutie patooties. Obviously I’ve seen Pearl as a wolf, but I’m never opposed to more wolf Pearl.
4.) Maybe a weird choice but sheep. Not a very good reason, I literally just think they’re cute. Of the farm animals they are the cutest to me. I’ve not seen any sheep Pearl art, but it could be very cute!
5.) Ocelots. They trigger the same instinct in me as carrier pigeons. They were once our friends but we abandoned them. I remember trying desperately to tame them and having them turn into cats once I did. I miss you my friends. I haven’t seen ocelot Pearl art but I think it would be cool!
Least Favorite
1.) Vexes. Hard to hit, and they hit hard. Just terrible little creatures. However, I have seen some banging vex Pearl art and would not be opposed to more. I just don’t like playing with them.
2.) Silverfish. Just annoying. I like to settle in mountain biomes and they’re so inconvenient. I have not see silverfish Pearl art but I do like more bug-like Pearl so I would definitely like to see someone try.
3.) Glow squid. “Oh but you love sniffers and they’re both useless new mobs” Are glow squids cute? Do they have a fun little animation? Do they do anything except die at the bottom of waterfalls in caves? Hunting them for their ink is so annoying because of how they spawn. I haven’t seen glow squid Pearl art I don’t think? Again I’m not opposed, bioluminescent Pearl is a cool idea.
4.) Wither skeletons. They make Nether Fortresses a nightmare. I once got caught in a wither skeleton death loop because my portal spawned inside a fortress and I’ve had a vendetta against them ever since. I don’t think I’ve seen wither skeleton Pearl art, but I think it would be cool especially with Empires Pearl.
5.) The Warden. I turn him off on my single players worlds I do not want to deal with him. I think he’s cool in concept, but I’m a baby and don’t want to deal with him. I have seen warden Pearl art and it slaps.

Landscape Process
I got some request for my process with backgrounds after the Onsen, so this will be a step-by-step-ish doumentation for an American Southwest landscape.
- BIG. ASS. CANVAS. like at least one side should be 5000 pixels
- Get a shitload of references:
Yeah 42 is enough
3. Rifle through them and sort into ones that feel related to you, or have elements you want to collage together. Make a note of this part on the tumblr post to explain where the fuck you are for the next 6-10 hours.
4. Or, uh. Seventeen minutes.
Kinda slapped and scaled them in approximately the size and location I want them.5. Now I’m gonna spend an outrageous amount of time isolating the exact thing I want from these references and Paper-dolling theminto place
Side note: You want to keep all the references from as close to the same perspective as possible. This is a pretty flat front-on angle so that’s not hard but something on a hill is a BITCH.
6. Okay, now I have everything in approximately the size and location I think I want it to be. All the pieces are on different layers, so I’m going to sketch the individual layers and tweak them into place and sorta quilt them together into a coherent Outline.
These are totally real technical terms.7. This outlining art Takes A While ™. 3 hours in so far.
It’s worth it tho, not because I’m using the outline as much in the final composition, but this intensely studied loutline helps me get REALLY familiar with the shapes of everything, which is REALLY important when I pick out my Light Source, because I’m going to have to wholesale invent the shading.
People love to make fun of Archeologists for how often we say objects were used ritualistically, as if we overuse that designation or just say it when we a don’t know what something was used for. But that’s only because people don’t stop to think how full of ritual all of our lives are.
The meme is actually correct for the most part, hotdogs are ritually consumed during baseball games. Lots of people only even eat hotdogs if they’re watching baseball. The expectation for us to eat turkey on thanksgiving is another example of us ritually consuming food. Drinking coffee every morning is another ritual we do. Going to the gym several days a week is a ritual.
“Ritual” doesn’t necessarily mean “religious.”
