really thinking about the use of twos in 9.08, both in halves (e.g. the car), in pairs (e.g. two veterans, the couples being invited to dinner), and also in sides (e.g. the divorced couple, hen vs chim). thinking about how buck spoke on eddie's behalf twice ("eddie's a veteran too", "athena invited us"). thinking about how buck is "still trying to figure out how to be a half". thinking about how this episode highlights that he is already a half.

god eddie nde though where he takes comfort just in bucks presence bc he trusts him and if this IS his last moments then he’s so glad he gets to be with Buck…gets to see bucks beautiful face…..and wait did he say that out loud bc now Buck is blushing and half laughs/half sobs and says o-ok Eddie ok let’s just get topside huh? then u can keep telling me how beautiful I am…

no but that “neither have you” haunts me. ‘cause eddie knows that buck was with t*mmy in the past year. which means that eddie is like “you didn’t look at women because you were occupied with a man. maybe i’m occupied with a man too”. followed by “i’m single. you’re single. you don’t need anyone. maybe i don’t need anyone too (‘cause you don’t want me, and i can’t have the one i want)”. except then buck finds someone. and eddie asks him who was better in bed - a woman or a man. just. okay
