thinking so much about that scene in which they exchange the heart diamond for merritt. i love daniel with this "we're gonna save our FRIEND" because this is what i consider character and relationship development, this is the moment that i'd include into my "j-daniel-atlas-cares-so-much-about-them" essay. also how he was visibly nervous and visibly relieved (they all were) when merritt appeared. and finally how merritt immediately gave jack and daniel hugs like he probably knew that they would cry right there if he didn't do that
