I know it's a strange and rude question but why is it you look so different than a normal darkrai? Is it from age? Work done? Just an artist thing?

But also, what is “normal” for a Darkrai? Look, it’s not OUR fault the media makes all their stupid ass merch and games and shows based off the design of ONE Darkrai. Cocky bastard loves that everyone thinks we just look like them now! Gave them a massive ego boost. But it’s just not the case.

The thing about us Darkrai is we are really good at hiding. You just haven’t seen all of us and only have a couple dudes to go off of. There’s not many of us captured, and those that are don’t get the spotlight much. I’ve probably met every Darkrai at least once in my life time unless they died before I came along, and yeah, we tend to have “common” body types and features, but no two of us are exactly alike.

A lot of Darkrai hide their necks away like cowards and don’t do anything with their legs. That alone probably makes ME more unique looking. And hey, I’m okay with that.

To help clear up what I mean, I’ll introduce you to some Darkai I see most often~

Monty is a dumb bitch who got caught by a trainer on purpose after his stupid island got taken over by humans. He’s been passed down every generation since and is basically just his humans’ fancy prized possession. He stopped battling eons ago, choosing a pacifist route, but I guess that’s fine cause it means I don’t want to kill him. For the most part, he’s pretty chill. He’s also the closest to my age, I think, minus a couple thousand years. Which means I’m still the eldest and he should respect me!

MoonMoon (( real name: Eclipse )) is a bitch ass little shit. They think they’re better than everyone because they’re younger (like 10 thousand years or something) and are owned by a Gym leader. Yet, I’ve never lost a battle with them so HA!! It’s no surprise why they got their ass captured so easily! They have the worst temper and they’re so negative aaaallll the tiiiiiime. I wish I could Hyper Beam them off the face of the planet.

Omoi, (fully Omoikane, and sometimes we call ‘em Kami) is an ooold as fuuuuuck Darkrai that lives in a sacred forest in Johto. They’re, uh… scary as shit, to be honest. I rarely see them, but when I do they emit an overwhelming, unsettling aura. I’m not convinced they haven’t been around since the Dawn of Time. Arceus’s first Darkrai for all I know! I owe them my life in some ways… but I rather not talk about that. I’m pretty sure they could crush me into a fine powder if they wanted to, so I try to stay on their good side.

“Cryin’ Crissy” “Weeping Wanda” she’s unnamed so we just make shit up for her at random. The others sometimes call her The One Who Cries but I think that’s kinda stupid. She has wept her little eyes out since before I existed and has never stopped. Bad trauma. PTSD. You know how it is! The good thing about her being a sad sack all the time is her tears have healing properties. Pretty sick, to be honest! She exclusively lives in the Hollow and rarely goes on the surface anymore. I sometimes bring her things from up here to try to cheer her up. She seems to like me more than the others. I call her Mother sometimes and she seems to like that. Hell if I know why! Maybe she has a mommy kink I don’t know about… maybe it’s where I got it from… actually… no, I don’t like thinking about that.
