everytime a new anime comes out a antiblack incident happens on social media like clockwork and i find it funny that it always seems to be shows that very clearly take from black culture like rn the dandadan show is out and a black kid made fanart of one of the mcs as black and ppl r being shitty per usual about it meanwhile the opening song and aesthetics of the shows r based on jersey club music….like the music producers and animation team directly cite black culture for a lot of the aesthetics that the same fans bashing that kid are enjoying listening to and seeing….
can i be real and slightly bitchy for a second…im a little annoyed this keeps getting reblogged and getting notes talking about “fandom can be racist” “fandom this” “fandom that” this isnt a problem exclusive to fandom……it is a societal issue..racism and specifically antiblackness is global……its getting rlly irritating reading comments about fandom when this behavior bleeds into literally everything…
the hatred of black culture directly from black people while praising it from nonblacks is a global phenomenon, you people do it everyday about everything it does not stop with just anime, and on that note while this post was more so criticizing white people participating in this harassment on twitter, there were also quite a large number of asian people doing it as well, antiblackness is perpetuated by all races, and this is also why whenever yall start overly praising japanese jazz or alternative fashion from asia that is directly inspired from black people while refusing to give credit or respect to the fact that u wouldn’t have those things WITHOUT black people it just contributes to the overall acceptable culture of antiblackness, i just need to stress this is not a “fandom” issue yall do this with everythinnnnnnnggggg
