Idk maybe if your ideology can be replaced by a few weeks of being fed properly and a few critical thinking questions, it isnt' that there's some subversive mind control program going on, maybe your ideology just sucks?

I mean. The society they came from had a racial caste system that still hasn't been fully dismantled today, 75 years later. Doesn't seem like it'd be hard to make a society more equitable than one with a racial caste system.
The idea of brainwashing, not the hollywood kind with the spiral eyes, or the kink kind with the spiral eyes, but like the actual, real-life "phenomenon" of it is a sort of fantasy dreamed up by midcentury american psychiatry to explain why some of its soldiers switched sides after being in POW camps, a long-documented phenomenon that has been recorded since time immemorial. It turns out that you can just kinda convince people of stuff? There's nothing nefarious going on.
And we do it, too! we did it to Nazis in WWII, we did it so much with Korean and Vietnamese peasants and troops that the "wife from Vietnam" became a trope in and of itself.
Why is it brainwashing when communists do it, but not when capitalists do it? Why is a capitalist-raised brain considered "clean?"
