god you know how there used to be a Gamer Culture who wanted to elevate games as art but that same culture would also get super mad if anyone had any kind of critical analysis or pointed out the obvious sexism, racism, etc. i feel like we are still going through that with fanfic and fan culture as a whole, esp in the romance genre

in fact a lot of creators you know are just some person who happened to be in the right places to have their thing boosted so much it reached your eyes. putting people on pedestals and creating this ideal image of them will always eventually cause disappointment and heartbreak even if they dont do anything wrong

clinging to the myth of the artist as this creature that came out of nowhere with magical powers to Create Art that is totally divorced from the context of their life, culture, experiences, biases, is a terrible idea in general actually
