Something. Sometimes It Has To Be Buffy, Though.

I am currently rewatching Buffy with a friend who never watched Buffy before. After watching Fool for Love, where Angel asked Spike β€žsince when are you talking like this?β€œ my friend - bless him - asked me if all vampires become British when they are turned.

And I don’t know what he was thinking, but I do very much love the idea that all vampire demons who take over your body might originally not come from hell, but from England.

Angel loved the idealised version of Buffy he made up in his head. C'mon, he literally got bored of her doing the normal 16 year old thing of complaining and basically told her to shut up???

Spike loved Buffy because he saw her, the good, the bad, and everything in between and said yeah that's the one for me!!!!

Also Spike falls in love with a (tbf, still very young) woman and not a 16 year old child.

Just read that Hulu is going to make a new Buffy series. Literally would love more Buffy episodes, but let’s be real here - this is not going to be Buffy. Even if SMG has a role in it, it will be something new, just another one of these series where we will ask β€žwow don’t people have any new ideas?β€œ I am soooo beyond annoyed from all these remakes and new movies (think the latest Beetlejuice) and I honestly think I rather dislike the idea of a β€žnewβ€œ Buffy. I love the original so much, this already feels wrong.

And of course I am going to watch it, because it’s Buffy. Media knows what they are doing.

Please tell me that y'all won't go back to tiktok once Trump gets whatever nefarious concessions he wants from the company and "saves" it. Like, you all NEED to stay gone. Stay on Xiaohongshu or move to other platforms or create a new one or whatever, but don't go back to whatever Trump-appeasement monstrosity TikTok is about to become. Don't do it.

Keeping these

β€œdon’t eat honey because it exploits the bees and they can’t consent!!!” bees are literally unionized and will walk out if they don’t like being in the beekeeper’s hives

It's true.

I worked with a beekeeper (not at beekeeping, guy had a day job as a machinist and kept bees as a side thing). One day there was a swarm in the parking lot and people were freaking out because, y'know, BEES EVERYWHERE. Beekeeper guy went to his truck. Pulled a swarm-catching box out. Put it on the ground and walked away. Bees went in the box after a while. Guy put the box back in his truck and drove home with them.

You cannot prevent bees from leaving a hive they don't like the conditions of, without also preventing them from being able to make honey. The latter is dependent on them being able to come and go as they please. If they don't like their hive THEY WILL LEAVE.

Beekeeping is probably the single most non-exploitative animal agriculture in the entirety of human history. I don't know how it's even possible to exploit bees. They answer only to their queen.

They absolutely do not answer to the queen. If she sucks they will kill her and make a new one.

This narrative only holds true to an extend. It absolutely takes not into account that there is mass production of honey, that queen bees are sold and shipped under cruel conditions, that male bees are killed to get their sperm so breeders can get inseminate queens, that some large scale producers will kill whole hives using gas or even drowning them with soap infused water, and, most importantly for the portrayed narrative, that queens are mutilated so that they can not escape and thus the hive will not leave even under bad conditions. Breeding bees and feeding them sugar instead of honey also makes them even more susceptible to die from disease and pesticides. Also, and here I could be wrong, but if bees would be happy to share their honey, why do beekeepers have to wear protection and use smoke to get to the honey? Because the bees would attack? As they don’t like having their honey taken from them?

this is singlehandedly the most ignorant post good job, i recommend following bee keeper social pages. there's one i follow that also collects bees when they set up a hive where you don't want it and 99.9% of the time they don't wear protection and scoop up the bees BARE HANDED without getting stung while completely dismantling and breaking down their hive. i assume it's also possible to collect honey without being stung for this reason. also the female bees kill the male worker bees every winter, so what difference does it make if humans kill them for sperm? they gonna die no matter what. as for replacing the honey with sugar, did you not read the post? THE BEES WILL LEAVE IF THEY DON'T LIKE THE CONDITIONS

Oh and I forgot to respond to the last part, bees and sugar water. Honey is made up to large percentages of sugar, so sugar obviously is something bees like. But maybe, in comparison to you, the bees potentially do not know that pure sugar, other than honey, is lacking the nutrients they need to stay happy, healthy bees. We humans even eat a lot of stuff that is bad for us because it tastes good, so on what base do we assume that the bees leave because of giving them sugar? I said it’s unhealthy for them, not that it will make them leave. Yet, it would be considered pet cruelty to feed your cat or dog food with too little nutrition, yet for bees you think it’s okay? Good (or maybe one should say regular) beekeepers leave some of the honey behind, but, as explained in my first response, a lot of beekeepers unfortunately do not.

Uhm, no but yours is astonishingly ignorant. I said, β€žto some extendβ€œ - whilst you are actually completely blending out that there are, in fact, a number of negative practices. I never said that there is no beekeeping that might work.

Yet, your argumentation is also not very convincing, as it is based on β€žI follow these guys on social media..β€œ

And yes, I read that they will leave if they don’t like it- which doesn’t help them when mass producers or just regular ill-practicing beekeepers kill them all before they have a chance to go (so even if they want to stay).

Also, and here i must wonder if you are the one who didn’t read- queens in bad beekeeping practices are prevented from leaving by clipping their wings witch makes it much more likely that the hive will stay.

And yeah, if male bees are killed anyway, what’s the difference if humans do it? Well, I guess that’s an individual moral question and if you don’t see the problem, it’s useless to argue further about this.

I am originally from a quite rural village and I know people who keep bees, my granddad used to keep bees. I understand that there are good beekeeping practices. That was never my point. But not every beekeeper is a local area beekeeper who is interested in the wellbeing of the bees. The majority of beekeepers or honey producers are not. Honey is mostly mass-produced, and mass production of any animal product is not possible without cruelty.

Blonde person with yellow popsicle: can somebody tell me how the fuck you make friends after high school?

Brunette person with glasses: Show up somewhere regularly. The reason you make friends in high school is because you see the same people everyday. The reason you make friends at work is because you see the same people everyday. If you want to make friends as an adult, go to the same cafe every week, or go to a calligraphy class. If you don’t want to leave the house you can just go to the same twitch stream everyday that’s what I do, and I’ve made friends there. If you are a familiar face in a place where people share your interests, you’ll make friends.

This is 100% correct. Please follow this advice. Seek out something you find interesting and consistently interact with people who do as well.

Muppet version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy is played by Miss Piggy. Angel is Kermit. Xander is Fozzie. Giles and Ethan are the old guys at the theater. Spike is the one human character and still played by James Marsters
