Just an introverted hispanic aromantic bisexual artist and writer with nothing better to do
I post art, AUs, fan fiction, moodboards, thoughts, and rants (not consistently tho)

Please tell me I’m not the only one who hates the “he’s/she’s everything, he’s just Ken” memes concerning mil*ven and byl*r. I get it’s just a meme, but it just feels so… degrading towards Mike. Especially when ppl keep saying that Mike fumbled two bad bitches or whatever.

Sorry if I’ve never seen jokes at Mike’s expense funny, and sorry if i also see him as both a loser (affectionate) and a bad bitch (no im not kidding)

I don’t really go here (ie the conformitygate theory) but… purple being associated with magic. Purple being El’s color, Will the Wise’s robes being purple. Kali’s hair in s2 being purple and her describing her powers in s2ep7 as a sort of “magic”, Will (apparently) being called an illusionist in the credits while Kali is an actual illusionist, Mike wearing a purple striped sweater in the epilogue, his glasses reflecting purple light, El somehow being able to pull him into the Void, Mike has canonically sensed El in the void back in s2…

Idk about you, but I’m sensing a pattern💜🔮

I’m sorry but the Duffers did not have Mike Wheeler be the first character they created for the show, the first character to speak in the show, their self-insert, the character that is basically a stand in for their childhood selves, the character usually connected and at the forefront of the supernatural plots, the leader of the party, the plan guy, The Heart™, and overall their special boy just for you guys to brush him off as nothing more than a love interest and a side character in Will and El’s story. Be so fr rn

Istg Mike I need you to beat the “just a love interest” allegations I am begging these takes are driving me fucking crazy

(This is not to hate on Will and El btw, this is just to state that all three of these characters are important and there is a reason this trio is always at the center of the supernatural plots)

Posting this comment I made on a post because a lot of you desperately need to hear this:

If Byler DOES somehow become canon in the finale, I better not see any of you guys go back to kissing the Duffers asses. I do not fucking care if it’s supposed to be a big plot twist, leaving everything for the finale, INCLUDING MIKES POV, is stupid. ESPECIALLY considering we have other shit that needs to be resolved. I did not expect Byler to happen in Volume 2, but fuck me, I expected more from Mike and just the story in general. Episode 7 is being hated on not just because of Byler, but because it is genuinely such a bad episode. They literally hyped it up for NOTHING. The Duffers essentially leaving their queer fans to be hunted by the wolves is cruel, regardless of whether or not Byler becomes canon. I didn’t want to believe this show was taking the Game of Thrones route of starting off really strong and ending god awful, but fuck me, it looks like it is. As queer fans and queer people, we should NOT have to settle for the bare fucking minimum (and yes, I am talking about Rovickie as well, they deserved better too).

——

Adding onto this because it’s not just byler or other ships that have been screwed over, but the story itself is just awful. The writing, pacing, all of it has been incredibly disappointing. Regardless of what happens in the finale, the Duffers have made it very clear with the story that they will play it safe and will write whatever they want, even if it doesn’t make sense or goes against their previously established rules and characters. Mike, Will, El, every single character in this fucking show deserves better than this. The actors deserve better than this.

WE deserve better than this.

“Just wait for the finale!”

That’s great that you can see the light at the end of this very dark tunnel, but have you stopped to consider that they have fucked things up so bad this season that I just don’t care anymore

Literally regardless of the outcome, the writing and pacing has been horrible that I just cannot see the finale being satisfying. They have played it safe, made very questionable writing choices, and screwed over their characters, actors, and fans.

Good for you if you’re still excited, but im gonna stay in my own little bubble and focus on making art and writing of these characters who all deserved so much better, rather than waste my time figuring out whether or not the Duffers are actually good at writing (again, not hate to fans who are going to watch the finale and have hope, but this just screams season 8 of Game of Thrones to me)

I already reblogged a post on my main blog saying this, but I need to share this cause it makes way too much sense.

The fact that Shawn Levy is allegedly directing episode 7 of season 5. The fact that Levy said that Finn and Noah’s best performances are in volume 2. Finn says that Season 5 is Mike’s most traumatic season and that he had to carry a lot of emotional weight.

In season 4, Will primarily wore the color yellow throughout the entire season. Coincidentally, in the same season, we see Dimension X for the first time, which is yellow. Will not remembering most of his time in the Upside Down, possibly because he was actually in Dimension X. Henry Creel visited Dimension X as a child and lost his memory of the experience, btw.

Unless the Duffers were lying in their interview about volume 1 where they said that Will only has powers because of his connection to the hive mind, then the theory about Will creating the Upside Down is out the window. So who does that leave?

Mike.

Something something the multiple theories about Mike creating the Upside Down, having time powers, and the Upside Down being a manifestation of his repressed emotions and whatnot. The fact that with every passing season, the Upside Down gets bluer and bluer, and is stuck on the day Will went missing. Since the very first season of the show, Mike has not only been consistently associated with the color blue, but also with time. Specifically, being late and wanting more time.

In season 1, he ran the campaign late. In season 2, he was late for the arcade. In season 3, he was late for the movies. In season 4, he was late for school. And while in the beginning of season 5, we see the other characters run late and go out the door, we do not see Mike walk out of his own house. Literally, Mike is wearing a sweater with the Demogorgon’s face in season 5.

The fact that episode 7 is called “The Bridge”, and is directed (co-directed?) by Shawn Levy. Something something Byler possibly being the bridge between worlds

Mike=Blue=The Upside Down

Will=Yellow=Dimension X

When blue meets yellow in the west

Adding onto this because in Will’s painting, he portrays Will the Wise with a blue ball. And while some people think this is a fireball or has something to do with the blue energy we’ve seen in the Season 5 trailers, I think the blue ball looks like a crystal ball, which we’ve seen in a previous drawing of Will the Wise back in Season 2.

That drawing of Will was meant to first introduce the audience to True Sight and Will being a “superspy”. Will sensed El in the Void back in Season 1, before he was connected to the Hive Mind by Vecna, and this is usually seen as evidence that he does have some innate powers. Will, like Henry, has been described as being a “sensitive” child (force-sensitive, anyone?)

So I’m thinking: what if the reason Will was chosen as the Mind Flayer’s spy and was kept flayed is because his innate powers are similar to Divination magic from DnD, kind of like how Kali’s powers are Illusion-based (Illusion Magic).

And friendly reminder that when Vecna kills his victims, he absorbs their essence. Mike has been having a lot of danger foreshadowing in this season and past seasons, whereas Will has been having foreshadowing to getting possessed again in Season 5. If Will can control the hive mind, the hive mind, aka Vecna/The Mind Flayer can control him back. The phone works both ways. Also Will randomly taking off his jacket in the barn? He likes it cold, anyone?

What I’m saying is that I think Will is getting possessed again and Mike is getting a fake death. Will is the spy, while Mike is the builder.

Sorry for being annoying abt this, but if I’m right about Mike being a secret Creel and creating the Upside Down, then the inciting incident has to be the quarry. At least, in my opinion. It wouldn’t make sense if it was prior since nothing that traumatic happened to Mike. But when Mike saw Will’s body taken out of the quarry, that’s the moment he thought he lost his best friend (and potential love of his life) forever.

So many questions have been raised as to how Will survived in the Upside Down, but what if he wasn’t there? What if he was actually in Dimension X? Friendly reminder that Dimension X has a history of making kids lose their memories after they visit it, primarily with Henry. Henry encountered Dimension X as a child and lost his memory of the experience.

It would make sense if after the quarry, Mike thinks of November 6, 1983 as the day his world turned “Upside Down”, and would want nothing more than to have Will come back to him. Not only would this be perfect as a Creeler reveal and an Upside Down lore reveal, but as a Byler reveal.

Also friendly reminder that the Duffers have said that they have the footage of Mike biking home crying after seeing Will’s body at the quarry. What better time to whip that out than now?

Whatever you do, don’t think about the fact that Mike has been repressing his emotions since like forever

Don’t think about the fact that he most definitely loves Will and is having issues regarding his sexuality

Definitely don’t think about how both Finn Wolfhard and Matt Duffer have confirmed that Mike has depression

Absolutely do not think about the fact that Finn has called this Mike’s most traumatic season and that he as an actor had to carry a lot of emotional weight

Do not think about how Mike canonically has an inferiority complex and thinks of himself as less than

Do not think about the fact that not only is him and his family being targeted by Vecna/The Mind Flayer, not only have they been targeted since the first season, but the very likely possibility that him and his family are related to the Creels

And don’t think about the possibility of Mike being the one who made the Upside Down stuck on the day Will went missing. Definitely don’t think about him being associated with time and blue being his signature color, the color of the Upside Down

And whatever you do, don’t think about the fact that Mike is not only the Party’s Paladin, but their Dungeon Master. Ya know, the guy who’s the main storyteller and literally creates the entire game. Do not think about how Mike has been associated with imagination and escapism since even the early days of the show, and how he’s basically the Duffers special boy

Definitely don’t think about the multiple times Mike has been equated to being the key to everything (It is right next to you, and you don’t even see it; Getting to Mike, now that was the key)

Don’t think about the theories about tears being needed to break the walls of the Upside Down. Don’t think about Mike’s torment probably being the reason the walls will come down. Something something Mike puts up a lot of walls to hide his thoughts and emotions. Something something “Without heart, we all fall apart”.

Dont even think about how the show has been building up El, Mike, and Will as the main trio at the forefront of the supernatural plot.

And whatever you do, don’t think about the possibility of Mike having a fake dea-

Anyone else think it’s such a coincidence that they put Mike in a hospital gown in season 5 volume 1, when the only other characters who have worn hospital gowns in the show are characters who’ve been targeted by Vecna (Karen, Max), characters who have powers (Henry, Kali, the Lab children), and characters who are tied to the supernatural (Will). Or in the case of Will and El, all three…

Veeeeeery interesting

I’m sorry but the Duffers did not have Mike Wheeler be the first character they created for the show, the first character to speak in the show, their self-insert, the character that is basically a stand in for their childhood selves, the character usually connected and at the forefront of the supernatural plots, the leader of the party, the plan guy, The Heart™, and overall their special boy just for you guys to brush him off as nothing more than a love interest and a side character in Will and El’s story. And when we get Lucas’s POV of Will killing the Demogorgon, and he starts getting PTSD flashbacks of Vecna killing Max and is having a bad feeling about Will having Vecna’s powers and still being flayed, then what?

Then what???

((Friendly reminder that neither Mike or Joyce have seen the way Vecna kills somebody. I will say it again: Will acting like Vecna is Not. A. Good. Thing))
