Mix of everything

@anonymwlw

Hi, I’m Liso! Lesbian, German. This is just gonna be a whole lot of mixed content. Fandoms, politics, private, you name it. Spn side blog: @desticule-brainrot CDrama side blog: @flirting-on-rooftops CR/ttrpg side blog: @zemnian-nerd

my friend just told me that there's a secret second dashboard that solely contains posts from people you've turned on post notifications for, and when i click the link in the messages it opens it within the tumblr app, so the tumblr app also has a secret second dashboard for post notification blogs, and the only way to access it is to open the link for it within the app.

i literally love tumblr

i have a private pinned post that just has a link to this dashboard on it, it's great. two dashboards for life

wow! i was really hoping someone would organically reverse-engineer this and find that dash.

here are a few other "secret" dashboards:

these are all just taking existing feeds of content and putting them in a dashboard-like format... the "Stuff for you" tab/feed is the same idea.

Hoooooooly fucking shit.

But if they missed the fact that I was an anti-ICE journalist who didn’t fill out her paperwork, what else might they be missing? How many convicted domestic abusers are being given guns and sent into other people’s homes? How many people with ties to white supremacist organizations are indiscriminately targeting minorities on principle, regardless of immigration status? How many rapists and pedophiles are working in ICE detention centers with direct and unsupervised access to a population that will be neither believed nor missed? How are we to trust ICE’s allegedly thorough investigations of the people they detain and deport when they can’t even keep their HR paperwork straight? And if they’re not going to screen me out, what hope is there of figuring out which recruit might one day turn into a trigger-happy agent who would forget that law enforcement officers are trained not to stand in front of vehicles, get jumpy, and shoot a 37-year-old woman to death on the streets of Minneapolis? The funniest thing I ever did on tumblr dot com is send myself an anon ask apologizing for a previous anonymous ask that was being transphobic. I then publicly answered to say, thank you for doing the right thing and then I turned off anonymous asks. That was 7 years ago, and I just found this sitting in my inbox:

Imagine logging on and seeing that your mortal enemy has finally decided to admit the truth after 7 years but now you’re being clowned on by 10 thousand people

I can’t believe anon was right about me. We are BOTH trans now. We’ve come full circle.

i worked at a park with a famous cliff people do indeed keep falling off and one day someone said, "why don't you just close off the trail?" and i said, "we can't make people make good decisions. we also can't close the Outside."

it's worth noting that to get to the cliff's edge to fall off in the first place, you have to climb over a fence with a sign on it that says "DANGER: IF YOU FALL OFF THE CLIFF, YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE!" and then (i'm not making this up) hike past a 6-foot tall marble monument dedicated to someone else who fell off the cliff.

and for the record i genuinely still do very much think it's a tragedy any time someone falls off the cliff, regardless of the several very deliberate choices they have to make to get to the cliff. because people make mistakes and poor choices and that's not a moral failing punishable by death. it sucks. but likewise I'm so serious when I say we can't close the Outside. because what would we do? put up another fence???

The Most Tumblr Punchline

I've noted before that my favorite punchline on Tumblr is "hang on, gotta look something up/okay that's funny."

Let me explain why:

  • It is a way to say "I don't get it" without blaming the joke or the teller.
  • It is a tacit admission of ignorance without shame or judgement.
  • It assumes responsibility for acquiring the knowledge the respondent doesn't already have.
  • It cues other people who Don't Get It to do the look-up themselves, allowing them to get that full impact of Getting It without derailing the post with explanations.
  • It gives subsequent readers, whether or not THEY got the joke, a little frisson of good feelings when they realize that someone else is now In On The Joke.
  • It not only makes the original joke funnier, it gets funnier the more often it's used.

the way my partner talks about my ocd is so hilariously on point. for context, i experience a lot of verbal compulsions (feeling like i Have to Say a Certain Thing to magically fix another) and he just told me. "most of the time it's easy to spot a compulsion cause literally nobody asked"

i'll tell him that i want to watch a movie and then I'll specify out loud "you do not have to comply with my wish, but it was good to freely express it just as it is good for you to freely refute it" and he will look at me dead in the eye and say "who asked. compulsion". it's just brutal

this is genuinely such good OCD treatment partnership though. acknowledging the compulsion & refusing to participate in the OCD narrative & reassurance loop. we love to see informed support.

The look on my boyfriend's face when I read this to him tells me I'm going to be hearing "Who asked? Compulsion." a LOT.

This post called me out so violently I'm meeting it at dawn with pistols.

OCD heritage post

I had a dream the other day that there was a viral Tumblr post that just said "But why though?"

No image, no context, not part of a two-part post, nothing. Just those three words

So many people who love generative AI don't have a creative bone in their body and can't imagine anyone actually enjoying the time and effort it takes to write something or draw something.

for all their talk about "now anyone can make art", they don't actually want to make art, they just want to have art

This post is getting a good bit of notes, but I think these tags sum it up best. When people point out that the genAI stans literally did not write anything, a lot of them get defensive like "BUT I TYPED THE RIGHT QUERY INTO THE TEXT GENERATOR SO I STILL DID SOMETHING!!!"

That's like saying you made Chinese food because you picked up a phone and told the guy on the other end what you wanted! (Except at least you'll get what you expected from a restaurant order, whereas AI still hallucinates bullshit quite a bit)

why is it able to instantly liquify a bay leaf but struggles with garlic 😭

it’s fine—I turned it off and started trying to fish out the bay leaf bits with a fork

okay actually though. How bad is it really to have bay leaf in there?? looking it up

Okay so it’s Not Ideal but I’m just gonna blend it more and Deal With It

I’m giving the swiffer a 4/10 rating for its ability to clean ceilings btw
