If I reblog something.

And you feel the need to 'correct' me because you don't like my tags about a character--i don't care if you say you aren't an anti, your actions are talking pretty loud--don't bother @ me. I'm not going to engage with you, I don't really care what your perspective is, and you're making fandom exhausting instead of fun.

I'm really truly sorry you have no fucking life.

actually when i was a strapping young dyke of only 2 years old i grabbed hot chocolate from the microwave, which had been boiling this beverage for 5 minutes straight, and spilled it all over me. severe burns but i was a really cool two year old and swagged through it. anyway when i got older my mother told me they had used pigs skin for the graft and so that's what i told my friends in school. ever since then my nickname in highschool had became hotdog skin. only once i was a strong and hearty lesbian did she reveal to me that it was just normal skin not pig skin and they were joking with me. i was out here telling people i had pig skin as an interesting icebreaker my entire academic life. my entire world upturned. ah well yet again i swagged through it. for women everywhere

So, the other day, when I was discussing AO3's policy on solicitation, a tumblr user came at me saying that AO3's "no monetization/solicitation" rules were "bullshit" because nexus mods allows fan created mods to get paid.

Look at me.

Look at me right now.

AO3 protects you.

AO3 protects you and your works.

It protects your works from copyright strikes and DCMA takedowns.

It protects your work from advertisers.

It protects your work from overzealous legal challenges.

It protects your right to post adult content.

AO3 is non-profit and AO3 will never try to use you or your work to make a profit for themselves and AO3 will go to bat for you if someone tries to legally challenge you or your works.

Please respect AO3 and its mission.

So the war ends, the Romans return to Camp Jupiter, everyone’s exhausted, everyone has a ton to do, a lot of things were wrecked because of the giants, so it takes quite a while before the Senate can meet again.

The night before that, at 3 am it suddenly hits Reyna: Oh shit, I forgot!

And with that momentum, in her pj and ducky socks, she goes over to Frank’s place and bangs on the door until he wakes up.

Reyna: Percy counts as a deserter.

Frank (very sleepily): If they ban him, Annabeth will kill both of us.

Reyna: And even if we somehow fix that, he’s still got at least ten years left in the legion.

Frank: Absolutely fucking not. The whole camp would be done for if we pull that.

So the two praetors start gathering all the heroic deeds Percy has accomplished so they’ll have enough arguments against the Senate but they realize they barely know anything about what he did before the legion, so they panic and call CHB.

Chiron:No worries, we’ll handle it. I’ll send the full list.

At the Senate meeting, Hermes himself shows up and reads out the three-meter-long list that Chiron put together in chronological order (mentioning at the appropriate points that ft. Annabeth Chase).

By the end of the day, not only is there no banishment, but Percy and Annabeth both receive the best scholarships, Percy gets the praetorian lifetime stipend, the veterans’ pension, and all the extra rewards that come after the wars.

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

General reminder that using AI to "write" "your" "fics" is like buying a scarf to take to the knitting group.

Not only did you not produce anything and tried to pretend that you did, you fully failed to grasp that the point of the hobby is to slowly go through the creative process and struggle to make things with people who share your interest.

It's not supposed to be good. It's not supposed to be done.

It's supposed to be a group activity.

Edit: to clarify, fandom is a community. If you wanted to interact with the media but not the group, you would not share fanfics you had AI "write" for you and share them in public/AO3 where I could see and get annoyed enough to write a post about it. So if you write only for yourself: no worries, this post isn't about you. 💜 There's nothing wrong with buying a scarf (from an ethical store) or knitting one alone. There's just something wrong with buying a scarf specifically to take to the knitting group as a "project".

Anonymous asked:

Writing culture is getting so excited about a scene idea that you hurriedly post several chapters before realizing you haven't worked out a complete plot. So now you're just writing and hoping the plot finds you.

if I say “I’m gonna update my fic and post the new chapter soon,” please know that “soon” could either mean today or 2035

fanfiction is a rare gem and a solid, living proof that, in a world of tiktok, influencers and content posting, not everything is about money and going viral. art can still be art just for the sake of the artists’ pure love, joy and passion for the art they create. fanfic writers write 100k words and more about the characters they love for free. just because they love these characters and the art of writing so much. art is not dead and the world is still beautiful.

shoutout to fanfiction and fanfic writers

“ao3 always receives more funds and donations than what they ask for” yeah that’s because people love a place that actually protects all fanfics, art and artists against censorship, purity culture and capitalism. shocking, I know
