They are real. They just weren't ever woven out of fabric, or suchlike. According to the book, discussing Aziraphale,
Angels had certain moral standards to maintain and so, unlike Crowley, he preferred to buy his clothes rather than wish them into being from raw firmament. And the shirt had been quite expensive.
‘I mean, just look at it,’ he said. ‘I’ll never get the stain out.’
As for what Crowley can or can't do, or can or can't be bothered to do, Crowley alone knows.
