Publisher Description
Enter a world of fractured fairy tales and magical mysteries in this first installment of the beloved New York Times bestselling Sisters Grimm series
Orphaned sisters Sabrina and Daphne are sent to live with their newly discovered grandmother, Relda Grimm, in the strange town of Ferryport Landing. The girls soon learn a family secret: that they are descendants of the famous Brothers Grimm, whose book of fairy tales is actually a history book. When a terrorizing giant goes on a rampage through the town, it’s up to the Sisters Grimm to stop him and to solve the mystery of who set the giant loose in the first place. Was it Mayor Charming, formerly Prince Charming, who desperately wants his kingdom back? The Three Not-So-Little Pigs, the shifty town cops? Or one of the many other fairy-tale characters who seem to have it out for the Grimms?
Repackaged in paperback with new cover art, these anniversary editions of the beloved Sisters Grimm series are the perfect opportunity for existing fans to revisit the adventures of the Grimm family and for new readers to discover the magic of the series for the first time.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Buckley's imaginative if meandering debut children's book launches the Sisters Grimm series, a contemporary tale starring two descendents of Jacob and Wilhelm. Sabrina, 11, and seven-year-old Daphne, whose parents have mysteriously disappeared, go to live with their grandmother Relda Grimm. This jolly, big-hearted woman resides in a small town on the Hudson River built by the "Everafters," characters from fairy tales who (thanks to a 200-year-old spell) are trapped in the town until the last Grimm dies. When a giant's footprint is found near a crushed farmhouse, Relda tells her granddaughters that whoever unleashed the giant must possess a magic bean (even though the woman "thought we had accounted for all of them"). While Relda and her companion, Mr. Canis, attempt to solve this mystery, the giant snatches them and holds them captive. During the siblings' quest to rescue the duo, they are either helped or hindered by a host of familiar characters, including Prince Charming, mayor of the town; Shakespeare's Puck; and Jack of beanstalk fame, who is determined to kill not only the giant but the sisters to end the curse. Buckley fills his tale with ample comical flourishes and plot twists, and readers will enjoy identifying favorite characters. Yet the narrative sometimes moves at a sluggish pace. Still, the novel's good-natured inanity and eccentric personalities may well inspire kids to join the sisters in their next sleuthing mission, The Unusual Suspects (0-8109-5926-7). Ages 8-12.
Customer Reviews
I wonder if this book is actually real🤔…
I LOVED this book. I can already smell a love story coming up with Sabrina and Puck. I also am getting addicted to this book(and series). And I don’t blame Sabrina for not believing Granny Relda, you mean it’s not every day when you see magic in a world where they believe magic isn’t real.
(Edit: this is an update from future me- WHY IN THE RITZ CRACKER AM I SO GULLIBLE 😭. Obviously it’s not real 😭. Still a good book tho-)
(Edit #2: yeah, no. This is me in high school, and i feel like a couple brain cells died when i read my old review 💀)

I am 25 and still love this series almost 15 years later.
A book all kids in 4th through 7th grade should read
This book is very well written, with witty characters and it starts the series off leaving you wanting more. It not only will be enjoyable for the kids, but will have some fun references for parents. Highly recommended!
