Yes, at least for my memorizing style, this app is perfection. All you need to do is import a pdf of any script and then you can go into the characters feature, choose your character in the script and the app will read all the other lines of all other characters to you. You can choose, as you begin to learn, to have the app play a Beep ss your cue, you can indicate how long you want a pause for speaking lines, it csn read that line back to you for comparison and any corrections. Or do none of that once you’re confident of your ability. You can choose which voice you want for every character from a good selection, change the pitch or speed of the voice, and the app will also read all of the stage directions (or you can select those be silent) It recognizes commas and you can edit the script as well, for example, indicate a (pause) If you get the upgraded membership, one of the perks is a bigger selection of voices, including accents such as British or Australian, plus others. I am able to memorize lines overnight because of this app.All of these options, the ease of using the app and a great support system, headed up by Maggie, make Script Rehearser the BEST app for learning a script as well as being able to Write one!!!! Absolutely A+++

Thanks for the review Lark, it's much appreciated. It's great to know which features our actors value the most. Maggie.

  • I don't know what was going on.

So I downloaded this app in the first place because I needed something to help me memorize my lines, and I saw that it was free. The first problem I encountered was the script. It would be much easier if you could take a photo of the page with your lines and then it could be copied into text on your device. I ended up having to type everything out because I don't know how to download a pdf and it would be nice to have a tutorial or other options that don't require using 2 hours of your time typing lines into an app that was supposed to be convenient and helpful. Then after all of that happened and I was finally finished typing, it wasn't reading the right lines I had adjusted on the settings and nothing I had set was working properly. Finally, I just ended up giving up and now I am writing this terrible review. I advise anyone reading this to not use this app if you are looking for something simple and quick to help memorize your lines. Thank you for your time, and I hope this will be fixed for future users.

Hi Coolest Girl. If you don't have a Text PDF of your script, an alternative to typing in your lines is just to record them into the app. They'll be automatically transcribed to text, and you can start rehearsing. There's an in-app tutorial showing how to do this. The learning settings are described on our website, which is linked to from the Help And Support button in the app.If there's anything in particular that I can help with, just drop me an email using the link in the app, or to: maggie@ScriptRehearser.com

  • Confusing layout for users and a little creepy?

    BabyMay23

When I imported the pdf of my script, I was really impressed with how the app organized lines by character so quickly. A really great app if you like to read your lines for practice and don’t like the hassle of highlighting. However! The digital voices installed in the app are incredibly creepy-to the point of being distracting, and not just because they’re robotic. Cuz I think maybe people recorded the syllables or something initially???? Also. The “tutorials” were not very helpful. General use of the app was difficult because of this. Information on WHERE to click to access voice settings/other info was really unclear, as well as how to record your own? I may consider purchasing the Pro upgrade, but my concerns with the current model of the app I have are enough that I don’t think the pro version will be much better. 🤷‍♀️

Hi. The app uses the digital voices that come with your device. You can try out the other voices by tapping a character name on the Characters screen, then tapping the voice name under the Voice prompt. This is a Pro feature, but you can use the Free Trial to see what they're like. No personal information or payment details are needed, and it doesn't automatically turn into a paid subscription or anything like that. There are descriptions of all the screens on our website, accessible from the Help section in the app. Please let me know if there's anything I can help with. maggie@ScriptRehearser.com

  • Really helpful great little app

    jackbrumit

This is a truly helpful, great little app! Takes a bit of time to get everything tweaked and formatted on the front end, but once it’s in place it’s really excellent, incredibly helpful in getting off book. The tools for editing are pretty simple to use, the user interface is pretty smooth. I imported the script as a PDF, it’s an older script so I definitely had to go through line by line and edit a bit. But I would’ve had to do that anyway because we had made cuts to the play. Regardless once the work of editing is done, This is an invaluable resource.

  • Not user friendly

    CTTrooper

Was excited about how fast the app loaded a PDF and its ability to segment all the different parts. The navigation on this app is poorly done, not user friendly and good luck finding a useful tutorial that shows a step by step process on accessing and changing the settings. I was hopeful that by upgrading to the paid version something would change but only one thing did, and that was the charge to my credit card. Tried using this app on an iPhone X, so far I’m pretty frustrated-gonna play around with it a bit longer to see if I can stumble upon something useful but got a feeling that I’m just gonna delete it and hopefully find something else.

Hi. You can access and change the settings from all of the main screen - just tap on the Settings item in the menu. Upgrading to Pro enables the three Pro features: recording your lines, changing digital voices and sharing scripts. There's a free trial if you want to try before you buy. No signup or personal details are required, and it doesn't automatically convert to a paid subscription. Our website has descriptions of the functions on each screen - there's a link in the Help section of the app. There are in-app tutorials covering a few common tasks. Please let me know if there's anything in particular that I can help with. maggie@ScriptRehearser.com

  • Fantastic app for learning lines

    LESosTX

This app has been a lifesaver for learning lines. It is easy to use and customizable to your learning styles. Even better, the customer support team is outstanding and very responsive. I’ve reported a couple of bugs myself that were addressed immediately. The pro version is very much worth the investment if you do any sort of acting on a regular basis. 5 stars!
