Upwork has been a solid platform for connecting with clients and managing work efficiently. The interface is intuitive, payments are reliable, and there’s a good balance of flexibility and structure for freelancers who know what they’re doing. While no platform is perfect, Upwork continues to be one of the better marketplaces for finding legitimate work and building long-term client relationships. Overall, a positive experience.
working with Ali has been an amazing experience. He intuitively understood what I needed in terms of renderings for our Smartlab environments. His renderings have been perfect exceeding all my expectations. I will continue to work with him as soon as next week. I highly recommend him.
Upwork is a great platform for freelancers and clients. I’m giving 5 stars so everyone can see it works and deserves recognition. But honestly, it’s extremely frustrating in Iraq — Fastlink and Korek mobile data don’t work properly, and sometimes even the website won’t load. This is not Upwork’s fault, but it makes it very hard for people here. So many others in Iraq wish to work online on this platform but face the same problems.5 stars because Upwork itself is perfect, but please improve accessibility for users in countries like mine!
I love Upwork, but the fees and the connects are two of my biggest issues with Upwork. Lower these fees! I pay for 100 connects a month and I just think it’s crazy y’all take my hard earned money from me in these fees and y’all get money from me because I have a subscription. Either make connects more available or get rid of these fees please, this is too greedy.
They say they will work they have five stars then you quickly realize the people have five stars because they take a job only when they know they are going to get for stars. I had two people agree to terms then when they couldn’t do it backed out on me and told me they don’t want me pay them unless I give them five stars. What it creates is a fake world of people who claim to be qualified when in my experience so far they are not at all. So you can’t really tell who actually knows how to do the work they claim they can do which makes the whole marketplace one big gamble.
My experience with upwork has not been satisfying. This service fee is quite high (10% one every project) which takes way a significant portion of earnings. On top of that, applying for jobs cost connects, which means I spend money just to submit proposals and often lose a lot of connects coin without getting hired. Also, the platform relies heavily on profile rating and location, which make it harder to get a jobs even if you verified and qualified. In my case, I currently live in an African country, but I am originally from another country, and this situation has reduced my job opportunities significantly. While there some good projects, the competition is extremely tough, and most of the time clients prefer freelancer with old accounts and higher ratings. Overall, the platform dose not provide equal opportunities for all freelancers.
