Age Ratings

Age ratings help you make informed decisions about whether an app may be appropriate for you or your family. These age ratings work with parental control features like Screen Time and Ask to Buy.

To publish an app on the App Store, developers must disclose the type and frequency of any sensitive content it contains, as well as any features that might introduce such content, such as unrestricted web access or advertising. Apple generates the age rating for the app based on this information.

Read more about each age rating below:

Developer-Assigned Age Rating

In some cases an app may be designed for a specific age, or have a policy that requires a minimum age for all users. To reflect this, developers can assign their app a global age rating higher than Apple’s determined rating.
