you need to tag your NSFW/suggestive art as such, or use the built-in Tumblr content labeling feature to mark them as mature. your posts are not limited to the people who choose to follow you - they end up on other people's dashboards via reblogs & in their recommended posts via algorithm. the only way for people (including minors) to effectively utilize content filtering is if posts are accurately tagged/labeled by the people who post them. otherwise the entire content cultivation system doesn't work, and their safeguards are totally non-functional.

im on the fence about something. is the above differentiation used in my comm sheet actually useful to people or is it just confusing. should I just chuck it or potentially replace it with a ‘let me know if there’s a specific artwork of mine that you’d like your commission to look like’
So I was talking to a friend who’s been commissioning me for years earlier, and they told me that PayPal is apparently now cracking down on artists. I’m gonna do more research on this is but this is what they’ve told me :
(Note this was all told to me by someone who told me one of their friends got banned this way and I trust that person but you can do your own research and ask other artists etc)
- too many transactions sent as “friends and family” can get you perma banned
- if someone sends you money with a nice note like “thanks for the art/commission” that can get you flagged and then banned also, because apparently PayPal is targeting nsfw artists now, and I guess they assume every artist is a potential nsfw artist ?? So don’t leave notes with your transactions anymore.
- if PayPal asks you for any feedback when someone pays you as “goods and services”, apparently you should just ignore that because if you tell them it’s for art they might flag you too
So basically from what I’m understanding, now we need to always pay artists/friends as “goods and services” and NOT leave any note of any kind. Also to note that goods and services should be used anyway because if you get scammed this is how you can get your money back, tho I know it’s not uncommon for friends to pay their friends as friends and family so they don’t have to cover the transaction fees themselves.
I’ve looked this up on Bluesky and these were the top posts that popped up, so yeah it’s definitely real o.o I found plenty of artists sharing screenshots of their accounts being banned, this is crazy. This message really needs to get around to protect artists
