The major reason Dante and Vergil's rivalry works better than almost any other take on the trope is because the games are totally self aware about how dumb and immature the whole trope is and they lean way the hell into it. Like yeah, there's real stakes, turmoil and emotional wounds between them that drive their eternal conflict but at the same time it's pretty obvious that the real reason they fight all the time is because they're both just the biggest goddamn children on the planet.

It really is just playground bickering elevated to apocalyptic proportions by sheer virtue of them both being demigods.

I don't love that every time a famous artist turns out to be a fucking disgusting piece of trash loser evil shitstain that everyone always scrambles to say WELL THEIR ART WAS ALWAYS MID AND BAD ANYWAY. like dude just reckon with the fact you can't judge someone's moral fiber based on the art they make or the clothes they wear or the way they speak or fucking anything anything at all

said it before and i'll say it again: this behavior is victim blaming under the thinnest coat of weakass paint

it's "I saw it coming a mile away, why didn't you?"

Yes! This is exactly my point! They're all numbers to you. But what you think of as zeroes and ones are actual people! They've already been touched by someone's will, they've been reanimated!

the thing so many people don't understand is that the reason wikipedia is generally not accepted as a source has nothing to do with accuracy. wikipedia is (generally) extremely accurate! the reason wikipedia isn't allowed as a source for school is because it's a summary of other sources. wikipedia has correct information, but it gets that information from OTHER places, which are either primary or secondary sources, which lends them credibility that wikipedia technically lacks.

so yes, wikipedia is a GREAT resource to learn new things! but if you want in depth, specific, and creditable sources, don't use wikipedia! use wikipedia's cited sources!!

Me, reblogging from anyone I don't follow: I'm introducing diversity into the gene pool. This will make my mutuals' dashes stronger and healthier.

Me reblogging old posts: I am reintroducing historical species into the gene pool to hybridize with the dashboard equivalent of pugs, making them stronger and healthier.

Me reblogging legacy posts: there are New Users, young Mutuals who were not here for the Old Times and do not remember the Old Ways. Someone must teach them, lest they be Lost.

Me reblogging 20 posts a day from a new hyper-fixation completely out of left field: I must strengthen the bodies and minds of my followers. Only the most determined will remain, and once we’re through, their resilience will know no bounds

i’m playing Rogue Trader rn and man Heinrix von Calox really is just the Most Character of All Time. he is married to his job. his job is Professional Torture. he accidentally psychically boiled his aunt and her pet lizard at age 12. yes he feels bad about it. yes he probably would boil the lizard again if given the chance because It Bit Him How Dare It. he was briefly an accounting intern. he helps his dickhead boss break into your room. in his words he is only vaguely middle aged, no he will not elaborate. he will not flinch at even the most grotesque displays of violence. he will blush if you hold his hand. his last name is fake. you can say to him in act 1 “you know what I think you do have Feelings actually” and he will respond “NUH UH” in the same tone as a Cool Kid middle school boy who’s just been accused of playing with Pokémon cards. he will ask if you are doing ok and will somehow make it sound Accusatory. he is a massive nerd about Space Chess.

update from the discord group courtesy of one of my mutuals;

do not trust that damned survey. change your discord password. utilize 2FA.

I use 2FA on every website I log into, and it didn't ask for any details when I took the survey, but I still don't trust that thing at all. One can never be too safe.

whoops I accidentally double reblogged but:

hi, i did some research on this but this link was not phishing and here's why:

qualtrics is a legit website that companies pay to host data gathering surveys to collect metrics on various things. you can also create free surveys but from what i understand the survey results aren't as in-depth as the paid versions get you.

it looks like the survey originates from a banner on the discord app and you click on it and it takes you to the site and you do the thing there. it was only rolled out to a certain amount of people (for the purposes to maybe only get people they thought would be pro-AI? who knows with Discord) but was then passed around everywhere because Fuck AI. And then Discord realized that things weren't going the way they wanted and pulled the survery.

I did some further research on the URL itself:

From ESET link checker it rates it as safe, I also plugged it into a few others as well like Fortinet and Bitdefender and both of those came back safe too, here's a screenshot of ESET:

info on the link itself from urlvoid:

the actual qualtrics site info from urlvoid as well to compare the age of the domain (usually phishing domains are very very young and/or brand new and not legitimate domains but these are both legitimate domains.)

and, inb4 people say "phishing attempts don't always have to ask you to enter your login credentials to scrape your info"

no keyloggers or malware after I clicked on the link (it's been 8 hours now and my discord account is fine).

hopefully, this will quell some panic about the discord thing, its always good practice to protect your account with MFA when it's offered and to change your password when you suspect something may not be right, it's better to err on the side of caution etc, but in this case, it's alright and there's no need to create any undue panic about a link to a survey. fuck AI and Discord should know better than to try and pull more wool over its userbases' eyes because did they not learn from the NFT thing?

okey dokey bye bye now

The masculine gaze is a man saying Daniel Craig has "let himself go" after seeing the new Knives Out film as if I wasn't admiring his Cuban heels and lovely three-piece suits and thinking to myself he looked better than he did in James Bond
